
Boise State Places 13th at PING Cougar Classic...

Kim finishes tied for 13th.
PROVO, Utah (4/24/2010) - Boise State University's men's golf team placed 13th out of 18 teams carding a three-round tally of 888 (+24) at the PING Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah, this weekend. The Broncos shot an 8-over 296 this afternoon as they fell one spot in the final standings on Saturday. Colorado State, ranked 40th nationally by GolfStat, held onto its first day lead firing a 7-under 281 today to win the team title with a 14-under 850.
Individually, Taeksoo Kim placed the highest for the Broncos at the PING Cougar Classic finishing tied for 13th, his second-best placing this year. The freshman from Hawaii turned in a career-performance in Utah with a personal-low total of 1-under 215. After recording two rounds under-par yesterday he shot 2-over 74 this afternoon. The University of Nevada's Jared Becher rallied today to take the medalist honors at the Classic with a 3-under 69 this afternoon giving him a final tally of 10-under 206.
Senior Robbie Richards recorded the top final round for Boise State shooting an even-par 72 to give him a final tournament total of 7-over 223. Matching Richards' final tally was classmate John Baranco who also finished with a 223 (+7) after firing a 4-over 76 today. The duo finished in a five-way tie for 52nd.
Clayton Kosanovich was the second Bronco to turn in a career-best performance at the PING Cougar Classic as he finished at 12-over 228. The freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz., carded a 3-over 75 in today's final round. Junior Chris Byrne rounded out the Boise State scoring this weekend with a 25-over 241. He recorded his best round of the competition on the final 18 today with a 3-over 75.
The PING Cougar Classic marks the final regular-season tournament of the year for the Boise State men. They will now set their focus on the Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Championship that will take place May 3-5 in Henderson, Nev.
