Broncos Open Fall Season in Michigan

WHAT'S NEXT: To open the 2026 fall season, Boise State is set to compete in the Island Resort Classic. Spanning two days (Sept. 6-7), the event takes place at Sage Run Golf Club (par 72 – 7,200 yards), located in Harris, Mich.
FORMAT / TEE TIMES:Â Hosted by South Dakota State, the Island Resort Classic features 12 teams, who will play 54 holes over a two-day span in a five-count-four format. Teams will play 36 holes on Sunday, followed by 18 on Monday, with tee times beginning at 5:30 a.m. MT each day.

STRONG FIELD:Â Half of the 12 teams participating in the Island Resort Classic currently rank in the top 100 according to SCOREBOARD. The field is led by West Virginia, who are ranked 55th in the country.
LAST YEAR'S SUCCESS:Â Ranked 132nd in the nation last year (according to SCOREBOARD), Boise State captured two team and two individual championships, winning the Oregon State Invitational in October 2025 and the Lake Las Vegas Invitational in February 2026. Additionally, Cole Rueck collected two Mountain West Golfer of the Week honors and was named to the All-Mountain West Team.
80 OR MORE:Â Led by head coach David Trainor, who enters his fifth season at the helm in 2026-27, Boise State is seeking its third-consecutive 80-win season. After notching just 39 wins in 2023-24, the Broncos were 88-63-3 in 2024-25 and 84-79-3 in 2025-26.
SEASONED RETURNERS:Â Returning for the Broncos are three key contributors from last year's team. Luke Cushman, Chase Gorder and Reese Knox combined for 10 top-25 finishes a year ago, including Knox who had the second most on the team with five.
FRESH FACES: Boise State's 2026-27 roster features four new faces, including three from the state of Idaho. Freshman Justin Anderson is from Idaho Falls, while junior Trevor Garus and senior Dylan Rodgers are from Boise and Meridian,​ respectively.
