LAS VEGAS – The Boise State men’s basketball team defeated New Orleans 67-51 Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The game was part of Vegas Holiday Hoops, a four-game series hosted by the Pacific-12 Conference.

Anthony Drmic led the Broncos with 20 points, his fourth 20-point outing of the season. He also added eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal, as the Broncos improved to 9-2 – the best record through 11 games since the team also went 9-2 in 2003-04.

Boise State, which won its third-consecutive game for the third time this season, notched its first wire-to-wire victory of the season, building as much as a 24-point advantage over the Privateers (3-8).

The Broncos led by 18 at halftime (44-26), and New Orleans was able to cut its deficit to 10 in the opening minutes of the second half. That was as close as New Orleans would get though, and the Broncos cruised to their ninth win of the season.

Ryan Watkins scored eight points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, and Jeff Elorriaga (14) and Derrick Marks (12) each scored in double figures.

The Broncos shot 50 percent in the opening half (17-of-34), including 7-for-11 from the 3-point line, but cooled off in the second. Boise State was just 8-of-27 (.296) from the floor in the final period, including a 1-for-11 (.091) clip from beyond the arc.

Boise State will square off against Corban at Taco Bell Arena, Dec. 30. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m.
