PULLMAN, Wash. – Boise State senior men’s golfer Taeksoo Kim notched a top-five finish in the first tournament of the 2012-13 season Tuesday, finishing tied for fourth at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate.

The effort marked his best tournament finish since winning the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate, Oct. 3-4, 2011.

Kim carded rounds of 75-72-73 to finish at 4-over-par at the par-72, 7,308-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Club. He now boasts five-career top-10 finishes, one away from cracking Boise State’s all-time top 10.

Fellow senior Clayton Kosanovich finished one stroke back of the top 25, carding a 54-hole total of 230 (+14). His final-round 75 (+3) was his lowest score of the tournament.

The Broncos posted the third-lowest team score in Monday’s second round (300, +12), but dropped from sixth to eighth place after shooting 303 (+15) on the final day. Boise State finished with a three-round score of 918 (+54), 10 strokes back of the top five.

Redshirt senior Charlie Marusiak rebounded from a rough front nine to shoot 1-under on the back. His final-round 79 (+7) gave him a three-round total of 235 (+19).

Playing in the first collegiate events of their careers, freshman Shane Allor finished with a 54-hole score of 241 (+25), and freshman Logan France birdied the final two holes Tuesday, closing his first-collegiate event with a career-low 76 (+4).

Sophomore Jon VanDyk fired a 1-under 71 Tuesday, the first sub-par round of the season by a Bronco. Playing as an individual, VanDyk finished tied for 34th with a 232 (+16). His final-round score moved him 15 spots up the leaderboard.

The Broncos will play in the Ram Master Invitational Sept. 17-18, before hosting the Dash Thomas Memorial at The Club at SpurWing, Sept. 24-25.
