Bates Sweeps Honors Adding MW Athlete of the Week

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State's Emma Bates was named the Mountain West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, Tuesday, earning her second league honor of the season.
Bates earned the honor after an outstanding win at the 2013 Pre-National Invitational, Oct. 19, clocking a career-best time of 20:09.09 on the 6-kilometer course. The junior earned a come-from-behind win after dropping to third in the final stretch of the race and was able to pass Aisling Cuffe of Stanford, who had just taken the lead from Florida State's Hannah Walker. The title was the first major regular-season win by any Bronco in program history.
Bates will join her team Nov. 1 for the 2013 Mountain West Cross Country Championships hosted by the Air Force Academy at Eisenhower Golf "Blue" Course.
