Travis Makes Charge in Final Round, Finishes in Top 25

EL PASO, Texas - Boise State junior men's golfer Ty Travis carded the lowest score of the final round at the Price's "Give `Em Five" Invitational Saturday, shooting up the leaderboard to finish in the top 25.
Travis carded a 5-under 67 at the 7,307-yard Butterfield Trail Golf Club, and after starting the day in a tie for 56th, finished tied for 22nd with a three-round total of 217 (73-77-67, +1).
Since joining the Broncos after transferring from Weber State, Travis has recorded top-25 finishes in each of the team's four tournaments, including two top-five efforts.
With Travis leading the charge, the Broncos saved their best round for the final day, carding a team score of 292 (+4) and moving into 13th. Boise State finished with a total of 889 (296-301-292, +25), four strokes ahead of Seattle and 11 strokes ahead of Utah.
New Mexico State won the tournament at 836 (-28), and UTEP's Martin Simonsen earned medalist honors with a 12-under 204.
Rounding out the scoring for the Broncos were sophomore Logan France (72-72-82--226, +10), redshirt senior Jordan Skyles (76-77-74--227, +11), freshman Kyle Mitsunaga (75-78-76--229, +13) and freshman David Elliott (79-75-75--229, +13).
The Broncos will conclude the fall portion of their 2013-14 season with the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational in Princeville, Hawai'i, Nov. 4-6.
