COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State freshman Danny Verdieck represented the Broncos on day one of the 2014 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the Air Force Academy. Verdieck competed in the first of two days in the men's heptathlon, sitting in eighth after four events.

The Bend, Ore., native earned 2,447-points on the day beginning with a personal-best of 7.45-seconds in the 60-meters to place seventh. He went on to tie for seventh in the long jump with a personal-best of 20-5.75 (6.24m), while also placing seventh in the shot put with a toss of 34-1.50 (10.40m). Verdieck closed out the day with a personal-best of 5-8 (1.70m) in the high jump, earning his third personal-best of the day.

Colorado State's Josh Cogdill leads the competition with 3,166-points and Verdieck chases the seventh-place position by only 144-points. The heptathlon competition will continue Friday with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000-meters.

Verdieck will be joined by his teammates Friday on day two of the Mountain West Indoor Championships.
