WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK 

  • Boise State (11-6, 3-3 MW) is on the road this week traveling to preseason favorites Colorado State (12-6, 4-2 MW) and Wyoming (12-6, 4-2 MW).
  • The Broncos open the week Thursday night in Fort Collins, Colo., where they will face defending champion Colorado State at 7 p.m. (MT) ... the Rams swept the Broncos last year.
  • Boise State wraps up the weekend at Laramie, Wyo., when the Broncos face the Wyoming Cowgirls at 1 p.m. (MT) ... Wyoming won both meetings a year ago.

SEASON STORY LINES

HEAD COACH SHAWN GARUS
  • Coach Garus is a two-time MW Coach of the Year (2015 and 2016), as well as the 2016 AVCA Region Coach of the Year.
  • Garus is 279-246 overall in his 18th year as a collegiate head coach. 
  • Garus is currently 171-127 at Boise State in his 10th season.
  • Garus ranks second in total wins in program history, out of 10 coaches all-time. 
  • Garus has recorded seven winning seasons, three (2010, 2015-16) with 20-plus wins, in his first nine seasons at Boise State.
BRONCOS BY THE NUMBERS
  • Leaders: Sabryn Roberts leads Boise State with 4.02 kills per set (2nd MW / 45th NCAA) ... Jessica Donahue adds 2.15 kps and team-high 1.48 blocks per set (2nd MW / 12th NCAA) ... Morgan Hughes averaging 2.1 kps and 1.1 bps.
  • Team: As a team the Broncos are hitting 21.3 percent (5th MW) while holding opponents to 15.9 percent (1st MW / 26th NCAA) ... they average 12.98 kills (4th MW), 12.17 assists (5th MW), 1.65 service aces (3rd MW / 27th NCAA), 14.59 digs (4th MW) and 2.65 blocks per set (2nd MW / 21st NCAA). 
ROBERTS HITS 1,000 CAREER KILLS
  • Senior outside hitter Sabryn Roberts is the 15th member of the 1,000 career kills club.
  • Roberts currently has 1,142 career kills to ranked seventh all time.
  • Roberts moved from ninth into seventh place for career kills at Boise State with 29 kills combined against San Diego State and Fresno State (Oct. 4-6), she started the year in 20th with 889. 
ROBERTS THE LEADER OF THE PACK
  • Sabryn Roberts has led the team in kills during 16 of the 17 contests (including two ties) to date, reaching double-digits 16 times and 20-plus in four matches, Portland State (20), Milwaukee (21), Washington (24) and San Diego State (20).
  • Roberts also has a team-high seven double-doubles (kills and digs combination)
DONAHUE, MASTER OF THE BLOCK
  • True freshman Jessica Donahue has made a huge impact for the Broncos at the net recording 68 blocks to date.
  • Donahue missed the first five MW matches before returning to action this past Saturday (Oct. 6) against Fresno State when she recorded a team-high seven blocks. 
  • She is currently ninth in the MW for total blocks ... second in the MW and ranked 12th nationally in blocks per set at 1.48.
  • In her first collegiate match versus Long Beach State, Donahue set the Boise State freshman record for blocks in a match with 10.
  • Her 10 blocks against Long Beach State is ranked tied for seventh in program history.
MORGAN HUGHES SERVING UP ACES
  • Senior transfer Morgan Hughes has made an immediate impact on the team leading the team in service aces with 30  to rank third in the MW and 23rd nationally.
  • She is fourth in the MW and 21st in the NCAA for service aces per set at 0.48.
  • Hughes has also impacted the team's defense, she leads the team and is eighth in MW for blocks (71) ... second on team and ninth in MW for blocks per set at 1.13.


COLORADO STATE MATCH PREVIEW

  • The Broncos open week four of MW play against the defending champion and preseason favorite Colorado State Thursday night in Fort Collins at 7 p.m.  
  • This will be the 16th meeting all-time with the Rams leading the series 14-1 ... CSU won both contests last year, 3-2 in Boise and 3-0 in Fort Collins.  
  • CSU enters the weekend at 12-6 overall and 4-2 in league ... the Rams split last week falling 3-1 at Wyoming, before regrouping to defeat Air Force 3-0 at home.
  • Colorado State is hitting 24.9 percent (2nd MW) on the year and holding opponents to 17.2 percent (4th MW) ... the Rams are led by Breana Runnels averaging 4.03 kills per set (3rd MW) ... Hougaard-Jensen is hitting a team-best 32.8 percent (6th MW) for 2.42 kps to go with a team-high 1.26 blocks per set (5th MW). 
  • The Rams were picked to repeat as conference champions in this year's MW coaches preseason poll. 


WYOMING MATCH PREVIEW

  • The Broncos will wrap up the week in Laramie, Wyo., where they will face the Wyoming Cowgirls at 1 p.m. on Saturday.  
  • This will be the 25th meeting all-time with the Cowgirls leading the series 13-11 ... Wyoming won both meetings last year 3-2 in Boise, then 3-1 in Laramie.  
  • Wyoming enters the week at 12-6 overall and 4-2 in conference ... the Cowgirls swept a pair of home matches last week defeating Colorado State 3-1, then Air Force 3-2.
  • Wyoming is hitting 24.8 percent (3rd MW) on the year and holding opponents to 16.4 percent (2nd MW / 35th NCAA) ... the  Cowgirls are led by Emily Lewis averaging 2.43 kills per set ... Reed Copeland is hitting a team-best 34.5 percent and leads the nation in blocks per set at 1.78.
  • The Cowgirls were picked second in this year's MW coaches preseason poll.
