Broncos Making a Statement at ITA Mountain Regionals

The Boise State Women's Tennis Team is putting together a successful outing at the ITA Mountain Regionals in Las Vegas, Nev.

WEDNESDAY'S SINGLES RECAP

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (10/10/18) – The Bronco Women's Tennis Team got off to a scorching start in its singles matches at the ITA Mountain Regionals, with five of seven Broncos advancing to the next round of the tournament.

Anja Dokic handily defeated Linnea Fristam of Montana State by a score of 6-4, 6-2. Wiktoria Nosek followed with a 7-5, 6-4 victory of her own against Utah's Lea Heimuli.

Lilian Poling and Wilhelmina Palmer each pulled out wins in three-set matches, with Palmer defeating Natasha Munday from New Mexico 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, and Poling taking down Chloe Gavino of New Mexico State 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

Hanna Kantenwein's opponent withdrew from the match, so she also advanced by way of a bye.

THURSDAY'S RECAP

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (10/11/18) – Wilhemlina Palmer advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Mountain Regional tournament with two singles wins on Thursday in Las Vegas, Nev.

In the round of 64, Palmer took down Mountain West foe Samantha Li of UNLV 6-3, 6-1. Then in the round of 32, she handled Northern Arizona's Eleanor Millard in consecutive sets by a score of 6-0, 7-6.

Anja Dokic also took down an opponent from UNLV, as she took down Alex Kalachova 6-3, 6-3 before dropping her next match to Kristen Kerrigan of Air Force in a tough three-set match 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Lilian Poling dominated a MW opponent of her own in a round of 64 match against Elizabeth Barnickel of Air Force 6-3, 6-1. In the next round, Poling put up a good fight but ultimately lost to Chiara Tomasetti of Northern Arizona 6-4, 6-2.

Wiktoria Nosek and Hanna Kantenwein both saw their tournaments cut short, as Nosek dropped her match to Kristen Prelle from UTEP 6-1, 6-1, and Kantenwein fell to the hands of Kristina Lagoda from Nevada 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles play, the dynamic duo of Palmer and Poling advanced with a victory over a MW tandem of Kalachova and Anna Bogoslavets from UNLV 8-4, while Dokic and Timm lost a tough contest to Marianna Petrei and Maria Tavares of Idaho 8-3.

Play will continue tomorrow from Las Vegas as the Broncos will look to build off of what has already been a successful tournament.
