BOISE, Idaho - Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien was named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week Thursday, being honored for his performance in this past Friday's 24-17 come-from-behind win over No. 16/17 Fresno State.
Rypien finished the game 24-for-29 for 269 yards and a touchdown, with his scoring pass, a 49-yard strike to freshman Khalil Shakir, providing the winning points. He also hit a pair of career milestones in the contest, passing San Diego State's Ryan Lindley (2008-11) to become the Mountain West's all-time leader in both passing yards and completions. Rypien eclipsed Lindley's passing yardage benchmark of 12,690 with his first pass of the game, hitting Sean Modster for 41 yards, and finishing the game at 12,924 passing yards for his career. Rypien then passed Lindley's all-time completions mark of 961, finishing the game at 981.
The Spokane, Wash., native also got the job done with his legs last Friday night, escaping oncoming rushes to run for 30 yards on eight carries.
No. 23/24 Boise State (8-2, 6-1 MW) heads to Albuquerque, N.M., for its final regular-season road contest, taking on New Mexico (3-7, 1-5 MW) Friday at 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
