Widen Signs Kyryll Kryvchun to a National Letter of Intent

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State Head Men's Tennis Coach Kristian Widen announced this afternoon that Kyryll Kryvchun has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Broncos fall of 2019. Kryvchun is currently playing his sophomore season at Mesa Community College in Arizona.

This fall he played in three tournaments against NCAA DI opponents where he went a combined 7-3 in singles competition. He was given the No. 2 seed overall at the New Mexico State Invite where he advanced all the way to the semifinals. Kryvchun then played for his flight's championship at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational where he fell in three sets. He closed the fall season out by reaching the semifinals of his flight at the Larry Easley Memorial Invite at UNLV.

He played his freshman season at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Calif., where he was the third-ranked singles player in the California Community College Athletic Conference (CCCAA). His honors included being named a CCCAA All-American, the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Most Outstanding Player and All-PCAC in singles and doubles.  

The freshman he helped the College of the Desert Roadrunners to a 15-3 overall record and an undefeated conference mark of 12-0 to claim the PCAC championship. Kryvchun qualified for the CCCAA State championships in both singles and doubles where he advanced to the singles quarterfinals. 

Kryvchun was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, but his family moved to Canada when he was a child where he grew up in Vancouver, B.C. He won the Canadian U16 National Championship in 2013 and was ranked in the top-3 as a U18 player in 2015. He has a career-high ITF ranking of 268.
