Broncos Travel to Battle in the Bay Classic

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's tennis will travel to the Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco, Calif. Oct. 1-4.
The tournament will host men's and women's singles and doubles competitions at the California Tennis Club. The men's teams that are participating include Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Duke, Georgia, Michigan State, Pepperdine, Princeton, Stanford, TCU, Texas, UCSB and San Diego.
The main draw of the men's singles draw will begin on Thursday Oct. 1 with 32 players and a draw of 16 teams. Doubles will be a draw of 16 teams also starting on Oct. 1. All matches will count for ITA results.
Last season, Filip Soderqvist and Avery Tallakson competed in the Battle in the Bay Classic. Soderqvist tallied two singles victories against Cal and TCU's 88th-ranked and No. 5 seeded Roger Pascual Ferra. Tallakson also recorded two victories in San Francisco.
THE SCHEDULE
- All contests will start at 9 a.m. Oct. 1-4 with doubles play, followed by singles action. All matches will be streamed on Track Tennis and results will be available here.
THE FIELD
There will be 14 schools represented at the Battle in the Bay Classic: Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Duke, Georgia, Michigan State, Pepperdine, Princeton, Stanford, TCU, Texas, UCSB and San Diego. At the end of last season in the ITA rankings, Arizona was ranked as high as ninth, San Diego was ranked 16th, followed by Stanford at 17th. Michigan State was also in the top 25 at 23rd.
REPRESENTING BOISE STATE
Boise State will have two student-athletes competing in the Battle in the Bay Classic. Stewart Aronson will make his first showing of the fall season in San Francisco, Calif. Izan Orgiles will be the second student-athlete joining Aronson after being named one of the Dar Walters Fall Classic Champions, alongside Julius Seifert. Orgiles also tallied an undefeated 4-0 singles record at the tournament.
WHAT'S NEW
The Broncos added two freshmen: Eyad Ezzat (Cairo, Egypt) and Brayden Tallakson (Irvine, Calif.). The Blue and Orange also welcomed two transfers: Orgiles (North Alabama) and Arsene Pougault (Arkansas).
WHAT'S BACK
Boise State returns five players: Aronson, Seifert, Michael Seversen, Soderqvist and Tallakson.
2026 SPRING SEASON
In the championship round of the Mountain West tournament, Boise State fell to Utah State 4-3. Boise State recorded a 22-9 overall record and went 4-3 in conference play. Aronson and Tallakson were named to the All-MW Singles team, and Tallakson also earned All-MW Doubles. Aronson earned an ITA year-end ranking of No. 50, while Soderqvist was ranked No. 66.
