Strong Second Half Pushes Broncos Past Alabama State

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Justinian Jessup scored 16 points, Alex Hobbs 15 and Boise State (4-5) beat Alabama State (2-5) 67-57 on Wednesday night.
Jessup was 4-of-10 from behind the arc, increasing his career 3-pointer total to 164 – putting him 10th in Boise State career history. He passed Roberto Bergersen (163) and Chris Childs (163) who entered the night tied for 10th.
RJ Williams added 12 points and Zach Haney 11 for the Broncos. Williams has scored in double digits in seven of the eight games he has played in this season.
AJ Farrar made a layup with 61 seconds to go before halftime and Gene Davis buried a 3-pointer as the horn sounded and Alabama State led 30-25. Fausto Pichardo's hook shot after the break extended the run before the Broncos seized control with 17-0 run. Hobbs and Williams combined to score the first nine points of the run. Later, Jessup made back-to-back 3s and Boise State led 51-36.
Boise State held Alabama State to just 37.3 percent (22-of-59) shooting from the field – the second-lowest shooting percentage for a Bronco opponent this season. The Broncos also had the edge in rebounding, 37-32.
Boise State will head to Eugene, Ore., for a matchup with Oregon this coming Saturday, Dec. 15. The game will tip at 6 p.m. PT at Matthew Knight Arena.
