Broncos Clinch Series in Five Innings

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In a deciding game three rubber match, the Boise State softball team run-ruled San Diego State (10-23, 1-5 MW) for the first time in program history, downing the Aztecs 11-1, Saturday at SDSU Softball Stadium.
The win gives Boise State nine run-rule victories on the season, the most in program history since 2011 (eight).
Boise State (23-11, 6-3 MW) hit three home runs on the day (Alison Seng, Morgan Lamb, Madison Anthony), combining for 14 total hits - eclipsing their combined total of 11 from the first two games of the series. Every player in the starting lineup reached base at least once in the game.
The Broncos would jump to a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning, starting with Anthony's leadoff double into right field. Cervantes would follow with a triple on the next at-bat for Boise State's first run. The triple gives Cervantes five in her career, moving her into a tie with Makenzie Sullivan for second on the Boise State record book.
Cervantes would score from third on a single from Lamb on the next at-bat. Two batters later, Seng would hit a home run into centerfield to score three runs. The Aztecs answered in the bottom of the inning, scoring a run on a bases loaded hit by pitch.
Lamb responded in the top of the second inning, hitting her first home run since last season (May 18, 2017) for two runs, extending Boise State's lead to 7-1.
Anthony hit her home run into left field with Shaelee Pearson and Isabelle Butler on base to give Boise State an 11-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth.
Kelsey Broadus allowed only three hits, striking out seven batters in only five innings.
