UP NOW: Boise State (2-1-0) will prepare for a road and home split this upcoming weekend, as the Broncos will first face Eastern Washington in Cheney, Wash., (Friday, Aug. 31) and then return home to play Southern Utah, Sunday Sept. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Boas Soccer Complex.
FOLLOW THE GAMES: Live video (Eastern Washington and Southern Utah) and live stats (Eastern Washington and Southern Utah) will be provided for both games.
LAST TIME OUT: The Broncos enter the weekend after two playing games away from home, suffering a loss to UC Santa Barbara and picking up a win against Cal Poly.
Boise State still had a strong start against the Gauchos, as the Bronco forwards consistently put pressure on the UCSB back line and earned a few decent chances in the first 15 minutes of the game. However, the Broncos were not able to finish on those looks, as UCSB scored in the 30th, 46th and 64th minutes to pick up the 3-0 win.
Raimee Sherle and McKenna Kynett both scored against Cal Poly to secure the Broncos' first road win of the season, along with their very first win against Cal Poly in program history. The result also gave Boise State its first shutout of the season, giving goalkeeper Tara Fisher (seven saves) her third-career clean sheet.
ABOUT EASTERN WASHINGTON: The Eagles (2-1-1) faced South Dakota and Grambling last weekend at home, resulting in a 1-1 double overtime draw and a 2-1 victory, respectively.
The Eagles are now 2-1-1 on their 2018 season, coming off a 2017 season where they won the Big Sky Conference Tournament title with a 16-6-1 record. The preseason conference coaches' poll once again picked EWU to win the league, as Allison Raniere, Devan Talley and Emma Vanderhyden have each scored a goal so far this season.
The Broncos have a 10-1-1 all-time record against the Eagles.
ABOUT SOUTHERN UTAH: The Thunderbirds (1-3) most recently defeated UNLV, 2-0, and fell to Nevada, 1-2, last weekend. Southern Utah will face CSU Bakersfield two days before playing the Broncos.
The Thunderbirds were 5-13-0 overall in the 2017 season. Last August the Broncos welcomed SUU to Boise and claimed the 5-1 win for the Blue and Orange's first win of 2017.
The Broncos have a 4-0-1 all-time record against the Thunderbirds, with a 2-0-0 record at home.
FISHER STEPS UP: Senior goalkeeper Tara Fisher finished the game against Cal Poly this past Sunday with a season-high seven saves, with three of those saves coming in the highlight-reel variety that maintained the Bronco lead. Now with 16 saves on the season, Fisher is No. 3 in the Mountain West in saves per game (5.33 spg).
SHERLE CONTINUES GAME-WINNING GOALS: Sherle continues to make her mark on games with her ability to convert game-winning goals, as her goal in the 23rd minute against the Mustangs proved to once again be the game winner. Now with 15-career game-winning goals (program record), the junior's 27 career goals and 62 career points both rank third in program history.
FAMILIARITY WITH THE BIG SKY: The two games this weekend will mean that three of the Broncos' first five opponents this season have come from the Big Sky Conference. Boise State is 9-5-4 under sixth-year head coach Jim Thomas against the league, including the season-opening victory over Idaho.
