WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK

  • Boise State (9-4, 1-1 MW) is on the road for the second week of conference play traveling to Nevada (7-6, 0-2 MW) and San Jose State (5-6, 0-2 MW).
  • The Broncos open the week at Reno, Nev., with a 7:30 p.m. (Mountain) first serve against the Wolf Pack in the Virginia Street Gym on the Nevada campus ... Boise State won the lone meeting last year 3-0 in Reno.
  • The week will close with Boise State at San Jose State for a 1 p.m. (Mountain) first serve in Spartan Gym on the SJSU campus ... the Broncos won the lone contest last year in Boise by a 3-0 score.

HEAD COACH SHAWN GARUS
  • Coach Garus is a two-time MW Coach of the Year (2015 and 2016), as well as the 2016 AVCA Region Coach of the Year.
  • Garus is 277-244 overall in his 18th year as a collegiate head coach. 
  • Garus is currently 169-125 at Boise State in his 10th season.
  • Garus ranks second in total wins in program history, out of 10 coaches all-time. 
  • Garus has recorded seven winning seasons, three (2010, 2015-16) with 20-plus wins, in his first nine seasons at Boise State.
BRONCOS BY THE NUMBERS
  • Leaders: Sabryn Roberts leads Boise State with 4.15 kills per set (2nd MW / 38th NCAA) ... Jessica Donahue adds 2.05 kps and team-high 1.45 blocks per set (2nd MW / 17th NCAA) ... Kiley Lewis has 2.21 kps, followed by Morgan Hughes at 2.08 kps.
  • Team: As a team the Broncos are hitting 20.9 percent (6th MW) while holding opponents to 16.0 percent (3rd MW / 30th NCAA) ... they average 12.98 kills (5th MW), 12.15 assists (5th MW), 1.73 service aces (2nd MW / 23rd NCAA), 15.02 digs (5th MW) and 2.81 blocks per set (2nd MW / 13th NCAA) . 
ROBERTS HITS 1,000 CAREER KILLS
  • Senior outside hitter Sabryn Roberts is the 15th member of the 1,000 career kills club .
  • Roberts currently has 1,088 career kills to ranked ninth all time.
ROBERTS THE LEADER OF THE PACK
  • Sabryn Roberts has led the team in kills during all 13 contests (including two ties) to date reaching double-digits each time and 20-plus in three matches, Portland State (20), Milwaukee (21) and Washington (24).
  • Roberts also has a team-high six double-doubles (kills and digs combination).
DONAHUE, MASTER OF THE BLOCK
  • True freshman Jessica Donahue has made a huge impact for the Broncos at the net recording a team-high 61 blocks to date.
  • She is seventh in the MW and ranked 65th nationally for total blocks ... second the MW and is ranked 17th nationally in blocks per set at 1.45.
  • In her first collegiate match versus Long Beach State, Donahue set the Boise State freshman record for blocks in a match with 10.
  • Her 10 blocks against Long Beach State is ranked tied for seventh in program history.
MORGAN HUGHES SERVING UP ACES
  • Senior transfer Morgan Hughes has made an immediate impact on the team leading the team in service aces with 23  to rank third in the MW and 30th nationally.
  • She is third in the MW and 31st in the NCAA for service aces per set at 0.48.
  • Hughes has also impacted the tam's defense and is second on the team and 10th in MW for blocks (54) ... second on team and eighth in MW for blocks per set at 1.12.


MATCH PREVIEWS

NEVADA MATCH PREVIEW
  • The Broncos open week two of MW play at Nevada at 7:30 p.m. (MT).  
  • This will be the 58th meeting all-time with Boise State leading the series 30-27 ... the Broncos won the lone meeting last year 3-0 which was at Reno.  
  • Nevada enters the week at 7-6 overall and 0-2 in league ... the Wolf Pack have lost four straight and are coming off a 3-1 home loss to Colorado State and a 3-0 road defeat at Wyoming.
  • Nevada is hitting 20.5 percent (7th MW)on the year and holding opponents to 21.4  percent (9th MW) ... the Wolf Pack are led by Jamila Minor averaging 3.63 kills per set (4th MW) and Kayla Afoa averaging 3.56 kps (6th MW).
  • Nevada was picked 10th in this year's MW coaches preseason poll. 
SAN JOSE STATE MATCH PREVIEW
  • The Broncos will wrap up the week at San Jose State at 1 p.m. (MT) in Spartan Gym.  
  • This will be the 34th meeting all-time with the Broncos leading the series 17-16 ... Boise State has won 14 straight over the Spartans, including the lone meeting last year in Boise (3-0).  
  • SJSU enters the week at 5-6 overall and 0-2 in conference ... the Spartans opened league last week with a home loss to Wyoming (3-0) followed by a road defeat at Colorado State (3-0).
  • San Jose State is hitting 19.7 percent on the year (9th MW) and holding opponents to 19.9 percent (7th MW) ... the  Spartans are led by Fernanda Vido averaging 3.26 kills per set (9th MW) and Caitlin Bettenay at 2.55 kps.
  • The Spartans were picked sixth in this year's MW coaches preseason poll.
