McCutcheon comes to Boise State from England.
BOISE, Idaho - Boise State women's tennis coach Beck Roghaar announced today that he has signed Mae McCutcheon from the Untied Kingdom to a National Letter of Intent. McCutcheon is the first student-athlete to sign with the Broncos for the 2019-20 season. Â
"Mae is an incredible player, we are so fortunate and happy to have her join our program," said Roghaar. "She is from the United Kingdom and brings a relentless and competitive attitude with her, as well as a lot of international and high level experience. I believe she will be an impact player for us early in her career. Mae comes highly recommended, every coach who has worked with her, who I've spoken with raves and speaks very highly of her as an athlete and as a person." Â Â
"I have worked towards this my whole life," said McCutcheon. "So this opportunity means very much to me and all my supportive family who have helped me through the long process. I feel like Boise is the place where I am going to progress and excel and fulfill my tennis potential."
McCutcheon will come to Boise State next fall from Wolverhampton, England, where she has been a standout among the UK's junior ranks. She has been ranked in the top-10 nationally in England for both the U14 and U16 age groups. McCutcheon also ranked in the top-10 on the British Tour leader board.Â
In addition, McCutcheon has been ranked No. 1 in her county for U14 through U18. She was a Teen Tennis doubles runner-up at U14; a British Nationals U16 doubles finalist; a British Tour finalist; won the National Scottish Open U16 and won another United Kingdom grade 2 national tournament. In addition, she was a member of a club team that advanced to the Aegon Team Tennis National Finals in 2016, 2017 and 2018.Â
McCutcheon has several wins over current NCAA Division I student-athletes including victories over Lauryn John Baptiste of Arizona State, LSU's Anna Loughlan, Northwestern's Hannah Mccolgan and Bronte Murgett at New Mexico.
