Boise State women's tennis team wins every set against Lewis-Clark State
BOISE, Idaho (1/26/19) – A day after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Weber State, the Boise State women's tennis team responded with a dominant performance; shutting out Lewis-Clark State and winning all singles matches in two sets
The Broncos got off to a hot start as they swept the doubles point behind shutouts from the No. 1 duo of Wilhelmina Palmer and Lilian Poling and the No. 2 pairing of Wiktoria Nosek and Vanessa Timm. A duo of freshmen at the No. 3 position in Sydnie Binder and Corey Patton Lossner showed great composure in their match, which they handled 6-3.
Moving into singles play, the Broncos came out with a high level of focus and determination. Poling continues to play well for the Blue and Orange as she earned the first Bronco singles point by defeating Laura Rosselli 6-0, 6-0 on court two.
At the No. 1 position, Palmer followed right behind her doubles partner with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Begona Andres. The freshman Binder was next, earning her first collegiate singles victory in dominant fashion by blanking Alexandra Berry on court five.
The ball kept rolling for Boise State as No. 3 Nosek and No. 4 Timm earned 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-2 wins respectively to extend the Bronco lead 5-0.
On court six, junior Jovana Kuljanin shut out Kyla Collier in the first set, but had to battle for a 7-6(4) tiebreaker win in the second set to end the match, putting an exclamation point on a 7-0 Bronco victory where the team did not drop a single set.
The Broncos now improve to 2-1 and will look to take the momentum into their next match as they head to Logan, Utah, for a match with Akron February 2nd.
