Broncos receive four points in USA Today/NFCA preseason poll, Cervantes and Seng only Mountain West players named preseason All-Americans by Fastpitch News

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State softball program received national recognition from a pair of outlets 10 days out from its season opener at the Texas Classic (Feb. 8-10). Boise State was mentioned in both the USA Today/NFCA preseason poll, receiving four points.

In addition, the Broncos were also bolstered by two players – Rebekah Cervantes and Alison Seng -- being named to preseason All-Americans by Fastpitch News. Both infielders were named to the honorable mention team.

Cervantes was named to the outlet's preseason All-America team last season, and with Seng joining her this year, it marks the first time Boise State has had multiple players named preseason All-Americans. Both players batted over .400 in 2018 and where honored by the Mountain West in the year end awards – Cervantes as the player of the year, and Seng as the freshman of the year.

Cervantes and Seng are two of 11 players from teams outside of the Power-5 conferences to be named to any of the three preseason All-America teams, and are the only ones from within the Mountain West.

The poll announcements by USA Today/NFCA, as well as the ESPN.com/USA Softball, validates the Broncos' 2019 schedule as one toughest in the conference. The Broncos will play three teams ranked in the preseason poll (No. 2/1 UCLA, No. 16/16 Texas, RV/25 Long Beach State), as well as three teams who are receiving votes.
