10/12/2019 10:18:00 PM | Women's Volleyball

Janell Walley led the Broncos with a double-double on a team-high 21 kills and 13 digs.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Janell Walley recorded her eighth double-double of the season on a team-high 21 kills and 13 digs, but it was not enough as UNLV rallied to defeat Boise State in five 23-25, 18-25, 28-26, 25-23, 15-13 Saturday afternoon. The match was a battled throughout as Boise State took the first two sets only to see the Rebels rally, winning the last three sets by the minimum of two points per set to defeat the Broncos.

The loss gave the Blue and Orange a road split on the week as the Broncos moved to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in Mountain West play, while UNLV goes to 8-9 on the year and 4-2 in league.

"The girls made a great effort today against UNLV," said head coach Shawn Garus. "It's a tough result to take when you're up two sets and lose the next three by two points each. It was a great competitive match, credit UNLV for the comeback win."

Walley led a trio of Broncos with double-doubles as she hit 50 percent in the match to record her second contest of the year with 20-plus kills, she also had four block assists.

Lauren Ohlinger followed with 13 kills and 18 digs, while Danielle Boss distributed a season-high 59 assists to go with 16 digs.

Freshman libero Allison Casillas recorded a team and career-high 23 digs to lead Boise State on the back line.

Sophomore middle blocker Jessica Donahue was big once again at the net for the Broncos hitting 45 percent for 10 kills to go with a team-high nine blocks, two were solos.

Boise State will return home this week where the will host MW leader and 15th-ranked Colorado State on Thursday followed by Wyoming on Saturday.
