THIS WEEK

● WHAT'S HAPPENING: Boise State (12-5, 4-2 MW) is home this week to host league-leading and 14th-ranked Colorado State on Thursday, then Wyoming on Saturday. 
â—Ź THURSDAY: Boise State and Colorado State (16-1, 6-0 MW) with have first serve at 7 p.m. (Mountain) in Bronco Gym. This is the first encounter of two this season between the Broncos and Rams. Colorado State swept both meetings last year.
● SATURDAY: The Blue and Orange will close the weekend by hosting second-place Wyoming (10-7, 5-1 MW) Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. (MT). This will also be the fist meeting of two this year. The teams split last season's series with the home team winning both. 
â—Ź PARKING: Free parking will be in the Albertsons Stadium Parking lots for both contests, however, on Saturday it will only be in the east side along Broadway.

BOISE STATE STORYLINES

BOISE STATE SPLIT IN WEEK THREE OF MW PLAY
â—Ź Boise State enters the weekend coming off a road split last weekend defeating New Mexico in four on Oct. 3, then fell in five at UNLV on Oct. 5.
● Lauren Ohlinger led the Broncos with a pair of double-doubles tallying a career-high 22 kills with 17 digs at New Mexico, then recorded 13 kills and 18 digs at UNLV. 
● Shae Duffy and Janell Wally added 30 kills each over the weekend ... Walley had a team-high 21 at UNLV ... Duffy had double-figure kills in both including a career-high 18 at New Mexico. 

BOISE STATE'S RECORD
â—Ź Boise State enters week eight of the season at 12-5 overall and 4-2 in MW play.
â—Ź Boise State's three nonconference loses came against teams ranked in the top-21 at the time of the match: at No. 9 BYU, vs. No. 16 Marquette in Provo, Utah, and at No. 21 Missouri.
â—ŹThe Broncos are 4-1 at home.

WALLEY LEADS THE BRONCOS
● After 17 matches, Janell Walley has led the Broncos to its early success hitting a team-best 39 percent ... she has hit 40 percent or better in eight matches to date and above 30 percent in 11 of 17. 
â—Ź She has tallied a team-high 226 kills, 14 service aces, four block solos and 61 block assists for a team-high 274.5 points on the year.
â—Ź Walley is third in the MW and 39th nationally for hitting percentage (.390), ranks third in MW for kills per set (3.65), eighth in blocks per set (1.05) and third in points per set (4.43).
â—Ź She had recorded seven-straight matches in double-figure kills until the Missouri match (Sept. 15) ... she now has 13 on the year.
â—Ź Walley tied her career-high for kills against Middle Tennessee (Sept. 6) with 19 ... then broke it with 23 in the victory over Austin Peay (Sept. 13).
● She has eight double-doubles on the year for a team-high 16 in her career. 

DUFFY COMING ON STRONG
● Shae Duffy is tied for the second most matches this season with double-digit kills with eight.  
â—Ź She hit a career-high 15 in the win over Middle Tennessee (Sept. 6), then reset it with 18 at New Mexico (Oct. 3).
â—Ź On the year she has a team-third-best 152 kills (2.62 kps) to go with 23 blocks.

OHLINGER SHINNING IN DEBUT SEASON
â—Ź True freshman Lauren Ohlinger has had a solid start to her Boise State career tied for the second-most matches with double-digit kills with eight.
â—Ź To date, she has the second-most kills on the team with 175 for a 2.82 per set average ... she is fourth on the team in digs with 158 (2.55 dps), fifth in blocks with 32 and second in points with 209.0.
â—Ź She had a her career-high of 19 kills in Boise State's win over Idaho State (Sept. 19), then broke that mark with 22 in the victory at New Mexico (Oct. 3).
● Ohlinger enters the week as one of four Broncos who has recorded a double-double on the season with four. 

BOSS AT SETTER 
â—Ź On the year she has 669 assists and 165 digs (2.66 dps) ... she is second in the MW and 45th nationally for assists per set at 10.79.
● She has nine matches this season with 40-plus assists. 
● The sophomore setter had an active streak of five double-doubles (assists/digs) Aug. 31 thru Sept. 13, all Broncos wins ... she now has eight on the year. 

DONAHUE ANCHORING THE BLUE WALL
â—Ź Last year, Jessica Donahue led the Broncos with 135 blocks to rank 14th in a season all-time at Boise State.
â—Ź In 2019 she leads once again with 94 entering the week.
â—Ź In MW play she has a league-high 50 blocks and leads with 2.08 per set ... she has tallied at least six in every match and has a high of 12 versus Nevada (Oct. 3)
â—Ź Her 12 blocks against Nevada (Oct. 3) was a career-high and tied the school record for blocks in a match ... it was the third match in her career with double-figure blocks.
â—Ź Ranks second in the MW and 21st nationally for total blocks with 94.
● She is first in the MW and fifth in NCAA for blocks per set at 1.57. 
â—Ź Donahue has 11 contests this season with five or more blocks

DEFENSIVELY SPEAKING
â—Ź The Broncos are ranked seventh nationally and second in the Mountain West for blocks per set at 2.9 and are third in digs per set at 14.82.
â—Ź They rank fifth in the MW for opponents' hitting percentage at .182.
â—Ź The Broncos have held eight of their last 11 opponents below 20 percent hitting going 9-2 in the that stretch.
● On the year they are 9-2 when holding opponents below 20 percent hitting, 10-3 when leading in blocks and 10-1 with more digs than the opposition. 

HEAD COACH SHAWN GARUS

â—Ź Coach Garus entered his 11th season at Boise State and 19th overall just 14 wins shy of 300 career wins at 286 ... he is now two short at 298.
● Garus is 298-256 overall in his 19th year as a collegiate head coach. 
● He is currently 190-137 at Boise State in his 11th season. 

MATCH PREVIEWS

COLORADO STATE PREVIEW
● Boise State hosts 14th-ranked Colorado State at 7 p.m. (MT) in Bronco Gym.  
â—Ź The Rams are off to their best start in school history at 16-1 overall and 6-0 in MW play entering the week ... they are coming off a home sweep last weekend over San Diego 8State (3-0) and Fresno State (3-0).
● CSU has been hitting a league-best 28.7 percent and holding its opponents to 10.5 percent (1st MW). 
● The Rams were picked to repeat as champions out of 11 teams in the MW coaches poll.    
â—Ź Boise State is 1-16 all-time versus the Rams and 1-14 in MW matches.

WYOMING PREVIEW
â—Ź The Broncos will close the weekend by hosting Wyoming at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
â—Ź The Cowgirls enter the week at 10-7 overall and in second place in conference at 5-1 ... they also swept Fresno State and San Diego State at home by 3-0 scores.
â—Ź Wyoming is hitting 22 percent on the year (5th MW) and holding opponents to 19.6 percent (6th MW).
â—Ź The Broncos are 12-13 all-time against Wyoming and 10-8 in MW play.
● The Cowgirls were predicted to place second in the 2019 MW race out of 11 teams.
