Game Notes

UP NEXT: With a win in the Mountain West Championship, the Broncos (18-4-0) secured a trip to the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship for the first time since 2009. Boise State advanced with a 2-0 win over San Diego State, Saturday, Nov. 9, at Boas Soccer Complex.

HOW WE GOT HERE: The Broncos dropped four goals in the first half en route to a commanding 6-0 victory over the New Mexico Lobos in their semifinal match. Boise State was led by Raimee Sherle who scored a hat trick in the win, including scoring two goals in less than a minute, a program record.

Sherle's two goals were followed exactly a minute later with a goal by Aubree Chatterton giving the Broncos three goals in 1:59, also a program best.

Boise State garnered the number-one seed in the tournament after earning a share of the regular-season title with San Diego State. The Broncos grabbed the number-one spot with a win over Aztecs during the regular season.

In the championship match against San Diego State the Broncos were led once again by eventual Tournament MVP Raimee Sherle who scored off an assist by fellow senior Emily Curry. In the second half, McKenna Kynett scored off a set piece fed to her by Aubree Chatterton.

Boise State scored eight goals in the tournament while allowing none.

The tournament was held in Boise, Idaho, thanks to the Broncos securing a share of the 2018 Mountain West regular-season title and winning the tiebreaker against Wyoming and New Mexico. With the number-one seed obtained for the second-straight year, Boise will host the Mountain West Soccer Championship next season as well.

ABOUT BYU: The Cougars (18-0-1) are one of the top scoring teams in the nation, recording 68 goals while allowing just nine by opponents. BYU is the only team still currently undefeated in women's D1 soccer. The Cougars are currently 9-0 at home, and finished the season ranked fourth in the coaches poll and 12th in the RPI rankings.

MOUNTAIN WEST ACCOLADES: The Mountain West announced its year-end honors and the Broncos placed four on the All-MW First Team and one to the second team. Senior Raimee Sherle received her fourth-straight first-team honor. Joining her were McKenna Kynett with her second-straight first-team award. Junior Aubree Chatterton and senior Mikayla Schachtell both collected first-team accolades for the first time in their careers. Sophomore Sydney Smith gathered her first-career All-Mountain West Second Team recognition.

HISTORIC REGULAR SEASON: For the second-straight season the Broncos secured a share of the top spot and the regular-season conference title, a first in program history. The Broncos also recorded a Boise State record 16 wins, eclipsing the previous mark of 13 (2013, 2017-18). Led by goalkeeper Sydney Smith, the Broncos also set a program-best 11 shutouts.

Boise State added to the total in the conference tournament, bringing its new program record to 18 wins and 13 shutouts.
