Broncos Come Up Short at Wyoming

Lauren Ohlinger leads Boise State with team-high 11 kills.
LARAMIE, Wyo. - Lauren Ohlinger led Boise State with 11 kills as the Broncos fell in three sets 28-26, 25-20, 25-16 at Wyoming Thursday night. The Broncos hit the ball well, over 30 percent in the first two sets but could not get a win, then Wyoming dominated the third to put it away.Â
The loss drops Boise State to 16-10 overall and 8-7 in MW play, while Wyoming improved to 18-8 and 13-2 in league.Â
For the fifth match in a row, Ohlinger led the Broncos in kills with a team-high 11 to go with three block assists for a team-best 12.5 points.Â
Alyssa Wissinger hit a team-high 60 percent with nine kills on 15 attempts and no errors. She was matched in kills by Shae Duffy who hit 30 percent for nine kills.Â
Jessica Donahue hit 41.7 percent for seven kills and had a team-high (tied) five block assists to finish with a second-best 9.5 points.Â
From her setter position, Danielle Boss recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 38 assists and 11 digs to go with two kills and team-high (tied) five block assists. Senior Janell Walley added a team-high 12 digs.Â
Even though the Broncos lost in three sets, they nearly match Wyoming statistically. Boise State had 45 kills compared to the Cowgirls' 49. It had 43 assists to UW's 44, tied in digs with 46 and had more blocks by a nine to seven margin.Â
Boise State hit well in the first two sets hitting over 30 percent before finishing at 23.7 percent. The one area Wyoming really out performed the Broncos was in hitting, finishing at 29.2 percent on the night.
The Blue and Orange will wrap-up the final road trip of the regular season this Saturday when the Broncos travel to 12th-ranked Colorado State for a 12 p.m. first serve in Fort Collins.Â
