Seniors Guide Broncos to Thrilling Road Win

11/23/2019 8:39:00 PM | Men's Basketball

STOCKTON, Calif. - Marcus Dickinson made two free throws at the end of regulation to force overtime and scored nine points across three extra periods to lift Boise State men's basketball to an 82-76 triple-overtime victory Saturday, at Pacific.

Dickinson tied his career high with 16 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. The senior went to the line at the end of the second half with the Broncos (3-2) down two and 32 seconds on the clock. He sank both and helped get a stop on the other end to force overtime.

The Tigers (6-2) made a shot as the buzzer sounded, but upon video review officials determined it was after the clock expired and the game continued.

Justinian Jessup's pull-up jumper with 2.5 seconds left in the first overtime sent the game to a second extra period tied at 63. Jessup, who finished with a season-high 22 points to lead the way, missed a shot to force double overtime, but Alex Hobbs cleaned up the miss and scored the tying bucket to knot the game at 72 with three seconds remaining.

Dickinson stepped up and knocked down a three-pointer with two minutes left in the third overtime to break the game's final tie. His shot put Boise State head 77-74. Jessup was fouled on a three-pointer the next trip down and made all three free throws. After the Tigers cut the deficit to four, Dickinson made two more free throws to provide the final margin.

The game was just the third in Boise State history to go to at least three overtimes. The Broncos are 3-0 all-time in such games, winning a quadruple-overtime game Jan. 6, 2011, at San Jose State and a triple-overtime game against New Mexico State in the championship of the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Tournament.

Boise State's seniors combined for 25 of the team's 26 points in the three overtimes.

Boise State returns to action Nov. 29, at home against UNC Wilmington. The game tips off at 7 p.m. MT at ExtraMile Arena. Tickets are available online and through the Boise State Athletic Ticket Office.
