DOUBLEHEADER:Â Tuesday's game is part of a season-opening doubleheader as Boise State women's basketball hosts Lewis-Clark State at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game. All fans who arrive to the women's game before halftime will receive admission to both games for the price of a women's basketball ticket.
SEASON STARTERS:Â Boise State is 30-21 all-time in season openers, including a 7-2 mark during Leon Rice's tenure as head coach. The Broncos are 41-10 all-time in their home opener, with a 26-7 record in season openers played at home.
RECORDS LOOMING:Â Justinian Jessup enters his senior season with 227 career three-pointers - No. 5 in Boise State history. Jessup needs 49 triples this season to break Anthony Drmic's career record of 275. With 73 three-pointers, Jessup will become the first player in Mountain West history to reach 300. The conference's current record holder is BYU's Jimmer Fredette (2007-11) with 296. Jessup has made at least 87 each of the last two seasons.
ALSTON HONORED:Â Boise State redshirt junior Derrick Alston, Jr. was selected to the All-Mountain West Preseason Team, as voted on by media members who cover the conference. Alston was an honorable mention selection last season after averaging 13.4 points per game, including a team-best 16 points per game in Mountain West play.
QUANTUM LEAP:Â Derrick Alston was Boise State's second-leading scorer last season at 13.4 points per game. This came one year after averaging 0.6 points in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2017-18. Alston's 12.8 points-per-game leap was the largest jump from one season to the next for any returning Boise State player in program history. His jump from 2017-18 to 2018-19 was the second most for any returner in NCAA Division I last season, behind only Oakland's Jaevin Cumberland who logged a 16.1 ppg jump.
CLEANING THE GLASS:  Boise State excelled at defensive rebounding percentage in 2018-19 for the second consecutive year, finishing the season at 78.6 percent – the No. 14 mark in Division I. The Broncos were the top defensive rebounding team in the country in 2017-18, grabbing 83.7 percent of their opponents' misses.
BRONCOS PICKED FIFTH:Â Boise State was projected to finish fifth in the Mountain West, by a preseason poll of media members who cover the league. The Broncos were slotted behind Utah State, San Diego State, New Mexico and Nevada.
