DENVER, Colo. - The No. 10 Boise State gymnastics team (11-1) topped Iowa State (8-6) but suffered their first loss of the season to No. 6 Denver (12-2) Sunday afternoon in Denver, Colo. after a hard-fought battle for first place. Isabella Amado had a career night on beam and Gabriela Bouza reset her career best on vault. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to take the meet title, after the Pioneers set a school-record beam score and a season-high floor score to take first place with an impressive 197.725. The Broncos would finish with a score of 196.375 with Iowa State taking third, scoring 195.425.

The Bronco beam team kicked off the meet with another shining performance. Shani Remme led the team with a beautiful routine, scoring a 9.925, good enough to tie for second place on the apparatus. Sarah Means was next with a 9.900, tying with Courtney McGregor and matching her career high. Amado also reset her career high on beam with a 9.875 while Gabriela Bouza was close behind with a 9.850. Boise State would combine for a 49.450, the tenth-best beam score in program history.

"The beam yteam continued to show why they are in the top five in the country," co-head coach Neil Resnick said. "I'm so proud of them."

Boise State was on floor for the second rotation. Tatum Bruden led the Broncos with a 9.850, and Maddi Nilson continued her solid floor campaign with a 9.750. Unfortunately, Remme landed awkwardly on her first pass and was unable to complete her routine or finish out the final two events.

The Blue and Orange headed to vault for rotation three, looking to recoup after an uncharacteristic floor score.  McGregor led the Broncos with a 9.900, matching her career best. Bouza also shone with a career-high 9.850, shattering her previous record of 9.750. However, the Pioneers had two score above 9.900 on vault, with Denver's Maddie Karr earning a perfect 10 from one judge, recording a nearly perfect score of 9.975

The Broncos continued to be consistent on bars for the final event. McGregor led the Broncos and took third place on bars with a 9.875. Emily Muhlenhaupt followed closely with a 9.850, while Alexis Stokes continued her solid freshman season with a 9.825. Boise State would finish the meet with a 196.375 to top Iowa State's 195.425. Unfortunately, despite their solid team effort, the Broncos ultimately fell to the No. 6 Pioneers after they matched their season-high floor score, with no one going below a 9.800.

Boise State will finally return home for a tri-meet vs. Washington and Utah State Friday at 7 p.m. at Taco Bell Arena.
