The Boise State softball team (32-9, 10-7 MW) hit three home runs to defeat Nevada (24-21, 8-9 MW) 12-1 for the run-rule victory on Saturday in Boise.
This is the ninth game this season the Broncos (32-9, 10-7 MW) have hit three or more home runs in a game.
"I think the girls are playing real confident," said head coach Maggie Livreri. "There's still a lot of life in them and a lot to fight for on the table and you're seeing that come through right now."
In the second meeting of a three-game series Boise State's offense was alive and well under the sun at home. Nevada (24-21, 8-9 MW) threatened early after an RBI single from Dallas Millwood gave them the lead in the top of the first inning, but that would be as far as they got against a solid Bronco defense.
The Nevada lead did not last long as the Boise State offense caught fire in the bottom of the first when Bradie Fillmore got things going with a three-run homer to left-center take the lead 3-1. Alison Seng followed right behind with a solo-moonshot to left-center and the Broncos lead quickly became 4-1.
The Blue and Orange continued to pile on the runs in the second inning as they scored five runs including a bases-clearing double from Seng and a deep RBI single from senior Kora Wade. Rebekah Cervantes put the icing on the cake in the third inning with a three-run dinger.
Wade has now reached base in 33-consecuitve games, two shy of tying Devon Bridges for the second-longest on-base streak in program history.WATCH | Rebekah Cervantes lifts one up over the right field wall for the three-run dinger!! Sophomore Gianna Mancha turned out a sold outing after allowing the quick run in the first. She allowed the one run through three innings pitched and fanned two batters for her 11th win on the year. Veronica Lynch came in relief to start the fourth inning and did her job by giving up just one hit and not allowing a run in two innings to close out the game.
Three Broncos finished the game with three or more RBI. Seng led the way as she finished the game a strong 2-for-2 as she knocked in four runs. Fillmore also batted in four runs on a 1-for-2 effort at the plate. Cervantes followed closely behind as she batted in three runs on a 2-for-2 day from the dishÂWATCH | The Broncos turn this sweet double play to finish off the 12-1 game against Nevada!!#BleedBlue pic.twitter.com/uNyaLitHuK
