Sale Wins Second GOLD at Pacific Games

APIA, Samoa - Lauren Sale out touched her closest opponent, Matelita Buadromo from Fiji, by .04 seconds to win her second gold medal of the Pacific Games. Sale swam a personal-best time of 2:24.12 in the 200-meter individual medley long course to win the gold on Friday in Apia, Samoa.
Sale — competing for the Samoa National Team — opened the day by swimming a new personal-best mark for the 200 IM during the preliminary rounds with a 2:27.41, shaving one second off her previous record of 2:28.88 recorded at the CA MVN Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions at Mission Viejo, Calif., in June.Â
The native of Westminster, Colo., then cut three more seconds off her prelim result during the final with the winning time of 2:24.12, resetting her personal best for the second time on Friday.Â
This concludes the 2019 Pacific Games for Sale who brings home six medals: two gold, two silver and two bronze.Â
