Broncos Post Clean Sheet Against Wildcats

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's soccer team got back to it's winning ways with a 3-0 victory against the Weber State Wildcats, Friday night at the Boas Soccer Complex.Â
"It just felt different, it felt like we were really together," said head coach Jim Thomas. "No one is really overreaching or underreaching. They know the importance of these moments and when you are in sync with the important parts, then it's much easier for you to work through the difficult pieces."
Boise State got support from multiple scorers throughout the game, with two of the scorers being first-time scorers this season. "That's when you know the whole squad are growing and developing together, not just those that are getting the opportunity to play," Thomas said.
The Broncos jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute thanks to a rocket off the right foot of freshman Morgan Stone. Stone has started every match this season for Boise State. This is her first-career goal.Â
The Blue and Orange would carry that lead into halftime and it would remain until the 67th minute when junior Aubree Chatterton netted her second goal of the season to add to the Bronco advantage. Chatterton was fed on the goal by redshirt-junior Ashleigh Harrison, her first assist of the year.
Junior Jennifer Turnek would add an final insurance goal in the closing minutes of the match thanks to an assist by Mckenna Kynett in the 85th minute. That marks Turnek's first goal of the year and Kynett's first assist this season.
"Jen is building quite the resume of minutes and impacts in games while playing multiple positions," said Thomas. "She is usually a facilitator but now she is scoring goals too."
Keeper Sydney Smith recorded her fifth win of the season and fourth clean sheet while securing eight saves in the Bronco win.
Boise State returns to action this Sunday, Sept. 15, at the Boas Complex as they host Portland State at 1 p.m. MT. Fans who bring their ticket stub from the Boise State versus Portland State football game Saturday will receive free admission to Sunday's match.
