BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State football team, ranked No. 20 in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls, will close out its first three-game homestand in more than a decade this week, squaring off against Air Force in the first Mountain West game of the 2019 season, Friday (Sept. 20). Kickoff between the Broncos (3-0) and Falcons (2-0) is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
CONFERENCE OPENERS: Boise State has won 19-consecutive conference openers since a loss in 1999, when the Broncos fell 17-10 to North Texas (Oct. 16) as a member of the Big West. The Broncos are 36-13 all-time in conference openers, including a mark of 20-3 when playing such games at home.
THE SERIES: The Broncos have won each of the last two meetings after dropping three-straight from 2014-16, one of only three opponents to beat Boise State in back-to-back-to-back seasons in school history (Idaho and Nevada). The Broncos lead the all-time series 4-3, including a 3-1 mark at home.
Including this year's match-up, four of the eight meetings with Air Force will have been played on a Friday, with the Broncos dropping each of the last two.
The Broncos' only previous Friday victory over the Falcons came in the first such meeting – Sept. 13, 2013 (42-20).
SECOND-HALF SHUTOUTS: Boise State and Wisconsin are the only FBS schools in the country that have not allowed a second-half point this season.
WHEN LEADING AFTER THREE: This past week Boise State won for the 115th-consecutive time at home when leading after three quarters. The streak is the longest active one in the country, far surpassing LSU, which is second with 71-straight such victories.
A 3-0 START: Boise State is off to a 3-0 start for just the second time in the Bryan Harsin Era, with the previous occasion being 2016, when the Broncos opened 7-0.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: Friday's contest against Air Force will mark the third home game in as many weeks for the Broncos, the first time since 2007 that has occurred. That season, Boise State played four-straight games at home from Sept. 15-Oct. 14, with the final three games of that stretch coming over three-straight weeks (Sept. 27 vs. Southern Mississippi, Oct. 7 vs. New Mexico State, Oct. 14 vs. Nevada) following a bye (Sept. 22).
