THE MEET

The Boise State gymnastics team, ranked No. 22 in Road to Nationals, will travel to face No. 23 Washington in the Broncos' second-straight road meet against a Pac-12 school to open the 2020 season, Monday (Jan. 20). The Broncos (0-1) and Huskies (0-1) are slated to begin at 7 p.m. (MT) at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, and the meet will be nationally televised on the Pac-12 Network.

Live scoring will be available at GoHuskies.com.

MUHLENHAUPT GARNERS WEEKLY HONOR
Emily Muhlenhaupt was named Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Specialist of the Week following her season-opening performance on bars at fourth-ranked UCLA, Jan. 12. It was the fourth-career such honor for Muhlenhaupt, having also earned the award three times in 2019. Against the Bruins, Muhlenhaupt led the Broncos on bars with a 9.925, the highest score by a Boise State individual on any event.

FIVE-STRAIGHT TITLES
The Broncos captured their fifth-consecutive Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference title this past season, the longest championship streak for a Boise State athletic program since the football team also won five-straight in the Western Athletic Conference from 2002-06. The only program with a longer streak in Boise State history was the wrestling team, which won seven-straight Big Sky Conference Championships from 1974-80.

12-STRAIGHT REGIONALS
Boise State made its 12th-consecutive NCAA Regional Championship appearance this past season. Competing in the Corvallis Regional in the new NCAA postseason format, the Broncos advanced to the Regional Final, finishing second in the opening session. The Broncos, which entered the regional ranked No. 12 – the highest ranking entering regionals in school history – finished fourth in the Regional Final.

IN THE RANKINGS
Following its first meet of the season at UCLA, the Boise State gymnastics team made its first appearance in Road to Nationals, the official ranking system of collegiate gymnastics. The Broncos checked in at No. 22 following their team score of 195.475 against the Bruins.

The Broncos' bars team is ranked fourth nationally (49.325), and their beam team checked in at No. 7 (49.150).

Boise State has finished each of the last 12 seasons ranked in the top 25, and this past season closed the year with 12-consecutive weeks ranking in the top 15. The streak is the longest for the Broncos since Road to Nationals began publishing rankings in 1998.

BACK FOR 2020
The Broncos lost a trio of gymnasts to graduation this past season, including the departure of Shani Remme, the most decorated gymnast in school history. But back for 2020 are four gymnasts with postseason accolades. Gabriela Bouza was named first-team All-MRGC on beam in 2018, and Emily Muhlenhaupt was named All-MRGC First Team on bars this past season. Courtney McGregor is the defending MRGC All-Around Champion, and was the co-champion on bars in 2018. McGregor was also named first-team all-league in the all-around each of the last two seasons, and was first-team all-league on both bars and vault in 2017 and 2018. She was second-team All-MRGC on bars in 2019. Alexis Stokes, in her debut season this past year, captured the conference championship on bars and garnered first-team all-league honors in the event.

AMERICA'S HIGHEST GPA
The Broncos combined for a team GPA of 3.77 this past academic year, the third time in four seasons the team finished with the highest grade-point average in the country amongst gymnastics programs, per the WCGA. Boise State also boasted the nation's highest GPA in both 2015-16 and 2017-18. The Broncos had the second-highest GPA in the country in 2016-17, and the third-highest in 2014-15. Boise State also boasted 13 WCGA Scholastic All-Americans.

TEAM CAPTAINS
Seniors Isabella Amado and Courtney McGregor were voted team captains for the 2020 season by their teammates. Each competed in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio, for Panama and New Zealand, respectively, and each plans to go to medical school following their competitive career. Both Amado and McGregor have been named Academic All-MRGC and WCGA Scholastic All-America in each of their three seasons with the Broncos.
