The Boise State women's tennis team is excited to announce the signing of Venezuelan standout Nicole Discenza, the third recruit for the 2020 class.

BOISE, Idaho – Head coach Beck Roghaar and the Boise State women's tennis program are excited to announce the signing of another junior standout in Nicole Discenza of Maracay, Venezuela.

"Adding Nicole to our 2020 class is a huge pick up," said Roghaar. "She's a player with relentless heart and work ethic who has succeeded at the top levels of international competition. She wants nothing more than to be great at what she does and help those around her to do the same."

Discenza comes to the Broncos boasting an outstanding junior tennis career resume, being ranked as the number one player in U12, U14 and U16 levels over the years. Additionally, she was rated by the Confederacion Sudamericana de Tenis (South America Tennis Confederation) as a top-eight U14 player in South America.

"It is such an honor that a university as prestigious as Boise State gave me the opportunity to defend their colors on the tennis court," said Discenza. "There are no words invented to describe how happy and grateful I feel. I will bring a lot of positivity and enthusiasm to the team to help each other to improve every day."

The 5-foot-2 Venezuelan has represented her home country six different times in junior tournaments of the South America Team Cup, and helped the team earn a spot to compete in the ITF World Cup in 2017 at the U14 division.

"I chose Boise State University because I felt right away the connection with the passion and dedication that the coaches and players have for the game, and for their commitment to developing good people before anything else," said Discenza. "Coach Beck and coach Maria [Lopez] are incredible people who both share their passion and love for tennis and their commitment to the team."

The addition of Discenza rounds out a solid three-member 2020 recruiting class for Roghaar, one that he thinks can make a major impact on the program. "Adding Nicole to our squad with the two other outstanding players and people in Pauline (Ernstberger) and Shauna (Heffernan) is a big win for the Broncos," said Roghaar. "We can't wait to have them all hear on campus next fall to get started.
