
Alston Leads Bronco Three-Point Barrage

BOISE, Idaho -Â Derrick Alston, Jr. scored 14 of his game-high 23 points in the second half, helping Boise State keep Weber State at arm's length as the Broncos earned a 70-59 victory over the Wildcats Sunday, at ExtraMile Arena.
Alston was 5-for-7 from three-point range, including a four-point play with 3:43 remaining that all but sealed the win. Weber State (2-1) cut the margin to nine points as the clock ticked under four minutes. Alston responded with his fifth triple of the night while being fouled. He added the free throw to put the Broncos (4-1) ahead by 13. They maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Boise State made a season-high 11 three-pointers, including seven in the first period.
Weber State took a 24-23 lead with 7:19 left in the first half, but Boise State responded with a 12-2 run to end the half and took a 35-26 advantage into the locker room.
Emmanuel Akot scored five points during the run. Akot finished the game with seven points and career highs of eight rebounds and six assists.
The next game on Boise State's schedule is the Mountain West opener, Dec. 21, against New Mexico. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. MT on FS1.
