
Broncos Roll to Conference-Opening Win

BOISE, Idaho - Derrick Alston, Jr. and RayJ Dennis combined for 36 points, leading Boise State to a 77-53 win over New Mexico, Monday, in the Mountain West opener for both teams.
The Broncos (5-1, 1-0 MW) used a 25-5 run midway through the second half to stretch their lead to 26 and coast to the win. Alston scored nine straight points of his own during the run and finished with 20 in the game, his third 20-point game of the season and 25th of his career.
Boise State shot 58 percent from the field while holding the Lobos (3-1, 0-1 MW) to 34 percent. The Broncos held a 42-26 scoring advantage in the paint.
Dennis scored 16 points to go with five assists and three steals. Emmanuel Akot and Abu Kigab each chipped in 12 points to give Boise State four in double figures. Akot also tallied eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block.
The two teams square off again Wednesday, in the second game of the conference-opening series. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. MT on CBS Sports Network.
