
Broncos Split, Defeat BYU Then Fall to Cal State Fullerton

Boise State earned its first ever win over the Cougars to open the Judi Garman Classic before falling to the tournament host Cal State Fullerton.
The split on Friday moved Boise State to 10-7 overall with three games remaining in Fullerton on Saturday and Sunday versus Loyola Marymount, No. 3 Texas and Grand Canyon.
Ashlyn Adams led Boise State offensively with a combined four hits on the day, followed by Alison Seng with three. Serena Huchingson led the team in RBIs with two while tallying two hits and scoring a run. Seng, Kelsey Lalor and Karlee Johnson all recorded a RBI each on the day.
Micaela Leal picked up her second win of the season against BYU and is now 2-2 on the year. Meanwhile, Bronco ace Kelsey Broadus picked up a tough loss versus CSUF to go to 6-2 overall.

Boise State's three-run second inning was all it needed in a 5-1 victory over Brigham Young on Friday in the first of two games on the day. Leal was solid on the mound holding the Cougars to three hits and one run, which came on a solo home run in the sixth. Offensively, the second inning gave the Broncos control when Seng, Lalor and Huchingson all crossed the plate.

The win was the first ever for the Broncos over BYU in five meetings all-time, it also improved them to 10-6 overall.
Boise State broke the game open when it scored three in the top half of the second inning. With bases loaded, Huchingson singled up the middle bringing home Seng and Lalor. The final score came when Huchingson stole home.
The Broncos tacked on runs in the third and fourth to give them a five run cushion. In the third, Adams opened with a triple. She was then brought home when Jessica McKay grounded out to the short stop. The final run in the fourth came on Lalor's fourth home run of the season when she sent the ball over the center field wall.
The Cougars ruined Leal's shutout when Rylie Jensen-McFarland homered in the bottom of the sixth.
Huchingson led Boise State with two RBIs while going 2-for-3 batting. McKay and Lalor each recorded a RBI as well, Lalor scored twice against the Cougars.
CAL STATE FULLERTON RECAP
Boise State came up short 3-1 on the road at Cal State Fullerton as the Titans rallied for the win in a game that started over an hour late do to the preceding contest.

The Broncos claimed an early 1-0 advantage in the top of the first when Seng singled to left field bringing home McKay. That would prove to be the lone score of the game for Boise State.
Cal State Fullerton rallied tying the score in the bottom of the first off a Bronco throwing error, then added to its lead in the third with a pair of runs to go up 3-1.
The Blue and Orange had chances to comeback, but came up short each time. The Broncos left nine runners on base, two in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Adams and Seng led the Broncos against the Titans recording two hits each, Seng had the lone RBI. Kelsey Broadus pitched well striking out four with only one walk and four hits, but it was not enough as she picked up the loss as the senior moved to 6-2 on the year.
