WHAT'S HAPPENING

♦ THIS WEEK: Boise State (9-6) heads to Fullerton, Calif., this weekend for the Judi Garman Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton Friday-Sunday. 
♦ FIELD: The field for the tournament is big with 15 teams: Boise State, BYU, Cal Poly, Cal, Cal State Fullerton, Colorado State, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Illinois, Loyola Marymount, No. 4/4 LSU, No. 13/11 Michigan, No. 3/3 Texas, No. 25/24 Texas Tech and No. 2/2 Washington.     
♦ OPPONENTS: Boise State will play five of the 15 teams including: BYU , Cal State Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, No. 3/3 Texas and Grand Canyon. The Broncos are 7-12 all-time against the five teams it will face this weekend.

LEADING OFF / QUICK HITS

♦ Boise State is ranked second nationally for shutout victories on the year with seven ... the Broncos last six wins of nine on the season have all been by shutout.
♦ The Broncos have outscored opponents 97-61 this season or about 2.4 runs per game ... the 97 runs scored ranks third in the Mountain West (MW). 
♦ Boise State averages 6.5 runs per game which ranks first in the MW and 33rd nationally.

♦ Boise State's Ashlyn Adams is ranked fourth in the MW for runs scored with 14.
♦ Bradie Fillmore is seventh in the MW for hits with 18.
♦ Adams is fifth in the MW for RBIs with 13.
♦ Kelsey Lalor is ranked sixth in the MW for home runs hit with three.
♦ Alison Seng is ranked third in MW for putouts with 100, Serena Huchingson is seventh with 77.

BROADUS LOOKING FOR RECORD

♦ Senior Kelsey Broadus is 6-0 overall, four have been complete game shutouts, one a shared shutout.
♦ The four shutout victories gives Broadus 11 in her career, tying the school record. 

THE SCOUTING REPORT

BRIGHAM YOUNG
♦ Boise State and Brigham Young will meet at 1 p.m. (Mountain) on Friday in the Broncos tournament opener.
♦ Boise State and BYU have met four times previously with the Cougars winning the first four. The last time they played was Feb. 19, 2016 in Las Vegas with a 8-0 score in five innings.
♦ The Cougars from the West Coast Conference enter the weekend at 9-5 overall. They have key wins over Nevada (6-1), San Diego State (3-0), Nebraska (4-1) and Mississippi State (6-2).
♦ The team is batting .233, averaging 4.6 runs per game and has an ERA of 1.66.

CAL STATE FULLERTON
♦ Boise State and Cal State Fullerton will face each other at 7 p.m. (MT) on Friday.
♦ This will be the sixth meeting in the series with the Titans having won the first five encounters. The last time they met was a 3-0 Titans victory on March 13, 2015 in Fullerton.
♦ The Big West Conference's Titans are 8-5 overall entering the week and have big wins versus San Jose State (4-3), Utah State (6-2), BYU (8-3), Notre Dame (5-4) and Arizona State (4-3).
♦ As a team Cal State Fullerton is hitting .276, averages 5.0 runs per game and has a team ERA of 3.55. 

LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
♦ Boise State and LMU will have first pitch at 6:30 p.m. (MT) Saturday night in the Broncos' lone game of the day.
♦ The Broncos have met LMU eight times before and own a 6-2 lead in the series all-time.
♦ The Lions are 8-7 overall entering the weekend and have notable wins over San Jose State (4-3), Seton Hall (6-4) and Hawaii (6-5).
♦ LMU is hitting .304 as a team, averages 5.2 runs per game and has a team ERA of 5.00.

NO. 3/3 TEXAS
♦ Boise State will be facing the third-ranked Texas Longhorns for the second time ever this Sunday at 10 a.m. (MT). The Longhorns beat the Broncos 8-0 last year in Austin.
♦ Texas is ranked third in both major polls and are 16-2 overall. It has notable wins over Maryland (17-0), Colorado State (12-3), Utah (3-2), No. 12/12 Tennessee (11-0), Ole Miss (4-1) and No. 9/10 Louisiana (2-1). 
♦ The Longhorns are hitting .422 as a team, averaging 9.1 runs per game and have an ERA of 1.66.

GRAND CANYON
♦ Boise State will close the weekend Sunday afternoon versus Grand Canyon at 2 p.m. (MT).  
♦ Boise State won the only previous encounter 8-0 in six innings last year on Feb. 24 in Phoenix. 
♦ The WAC's Antelopes are 3-12 entering the week with wins over New Mexico (7-6), Western Illinois (4-2) and Drake (6-1). 
♦ GCU is hitting .263 as a team, averaging 3.2 runs per game and has an ERA of 4.49.
