ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The men's distance squad set the pace for Boise State track and field on the final day of competition with a sweep of the podium in the men's mile at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, Saturday.

"I thought both groups competed really hard. We had a lot of people going today in the finals," said head coach Corey Ihmels.

Junior Ahmed Muhumed used a late kick to take the gold. Right on his heels was Jonathan Shields to garner the silver and Henry Mong earned the bronze.

For the second time this season, sophomore Dafni Georgiou reset the mark for Boise State in the women's 60-meter hurdles with an 8.48. That mark was good enough for fourth place.

In the men's 800m, Jacob Grinwis secured the silver medal with a time of 1:53.21. Grinwis finished the championship with a gold and a silver medal.

Sophomore Caleb Hardy earned top-five finishes in the 200 and 400m. Hardy finished fourth in the 400m and earned the bronze in the 200m despite a hamstring injury in the final meters.

"I felt like we had a lot of people step up," said Ihmels. "We continued to make progress and our indoor season wasn't perfect but I felt like we came to these championships and got a lot better and I think that's going to bode well as we head to outdoors."

The Broncos finish the championships with three golds, two silvers, and three bronze medals for a total eight on the weekend.
