BOISE, Idaho  - Boise State women's tennis claimed a dominant 6-1 victory Saturday afternoon over the Southern Utah Thunderbirds. Boise State won all three doubles matches convincingly, then secure five wins in singles led by Vanessa Timm, Lilian Poling and Holly Stewart who clinched the team victory by giving the Blue and Orange a decisive 4-0 lead.

The win improved the Broncos to 9-2 overall heading into a Sunday morning home showdown with 45th-ranked Utah at 11 a.m. at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center.

"I thought today's match was really good, we came out and set a good tone with the doubles right away and executed on some things that we've been working really hard on," said Boise State head coach Beck Roghaar. "I was really proud of the work right across the board. I think we've been focused and making sure that all of our spots are showing up consistently throughout and I thought we did a really good job of doing that again today. So that should help give our players a lot of confidence heading into tomorrow's match knowing that everybody's gonna  be doing their job, if we all do that I think we're capable some really good things."

Boise State controlled doubles winning all three matches for the team point. Lilian Poling and Holly Stewart won at the No. 1 position defeating Chloe Purkiss and Jessica Stefan 6-1. The Bronco duo is now 9-1 overall this spring.

Vanessa Timm and Mae McCutcheon downed Zoe Tanti and Georgia Hoskins 6-3 on court two to clinch the team point and improve to 7-5 overall. Meanwhile, Camryn Moortgat and Ana Conde Vendrell won 6-2 on court three to complete the doubles sweep.

Singles saw Timm roll to a straight-set win over Purkiss 6-1, 6-1 to give the Broncos a 2-0 match lead. She is now 17-6 on the year and 10-1 this spring.

Poling moved the Broncos into a 3-0 lead following her two-set victory at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2 over SUU's Stefan. The Bronco senior moved to 11-3 overall and 9-1 in duals this spring, all at the No. 1 position.

The match clincher came from Stewart who put away the Thunderbirds' Tanti in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Stewart is now 10-1 in singles since joining the team during winter break.

Boise State went on to win two of the final three matches to make the final score 6-1 Broncos. Ana Conde Vendrell claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win on court five, while Mae McCutcheon had the comeback of the day.

With the team victory already clinched, McCutcheon's match went into a third set 10-point tiebreaker. The freshman struggled early falling behind 6-0 in the tiebreaker, then rallied to take her first lead at 11-10 before winning the tiebreak 13-11 and the match 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (13-11).
