BOISE, Idaho - Boise State's high from Mallory McGwire's one-timer of an inbounds pass to tie the game with 2.5 seconds left dissipated just as quickly Saturday. Utah State's Marlene Aniambossou's jumper off of Utah State's ensuing inbounds was true as time expired, sending the Broncos to a crushing 58-56 loss Saturday.

Aniambossou grabbed Hailey Bassett's inbound pass to the right of the basket, right between the key and the 3-point line, with 1.4 seconds left, turned around, and with two defenders in her face swished home the winner. It capped a desperate 17-4 game-ending run by the Aggies (7-17, 2-10 MW) which overcame what had been an 11-point Boise State lead with just over three minutes to play.

"I thought Utah State was a hungrier team, and we played not to lose, like we've done in the past. We just didn't execute down the stretch," said Boise State head coach Gordy Presnell.

Mallory McGwire, who posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, put Boise State (16-9, 8-5 MW) ahead, 54-43 with 3:13 to play. The Broncos had recovered well from a first half in which they shot just 22.2 percent and trailed the Aggies by nine, outscoring Utah State, 35-21, to that point. Boise State's defense was clicking, as the Aggies were shooting just 4-for-16 from the field in the second half as the Broncos built the 11-point advantage.

The Aggie comeback started with 2:56 left as Emmie Harris scored all six of her points on the day in the space of 29 seconds. Harris first drew a foul on a 3-pointer and sank all three freebies, then converted a three-point play that cut the Bronco lead to five at 54-49 with 2:27 remaining.

Aniambossou, who scored six of her 11 points over this game-ending run, followed a Braydey Hodgins miss from deep with a jumper to make it a one-possession game at 54-51. Riley Lupfer, who hit five 3-pointers and scored 20 points for the Broncos Saturday, missed from the left wing on the ensuing possession, and Utah State quickly equalized on Steph Gorman's triple with 58.9 seconds on the clock. Gorman also finished the game with 20 points, hitting four 3-pointers.

Hodgins missed another 3-pointer from the corner after a Boise State timeout, and the Aggies went once again inside to Aniambossou, who beat her defenders to the glass and laid it in with 2.5 seconds to go. Following timeouts from each team, the Broncos perfectly executed their inbounds play, as McGwire caught Hodgins' loft pass in the air and, in one motion, laid it in off glass to tie it up.

The final minute belied a contest in which both teams struggled to find points. Utah State hit just 17 field goals in the contest, shooting 37.0 percent, while the Broncos fared little better, going 19-for-58 (32.8 percent) and just 6-for-26 from deep. Boise State fell into a nine-point hole at the break, trailing Utah State, 28-19, after going just 2-for-15 in the second quarter.
