Boise State is sending a seven-person contingent to the 2020 CSCAA National Invitational Championships at Cleveland this weekend.

WHAT'S HAPPENING
- Boise State is sending seven swimmers to the CSCAA National Invitational Championships (NIC) this week at Cleveland, Ohio.
- There are 56 distinct schools attending, meaning they are sending either a men's team, women's team or both.
- On the women's side there are 53 teams scheduled to compete and 32 men's teams with approximately 650 student-athletes entered into this year's meet.
- Five of the 10 Mountain West schools who sponsor swimming will be present including: Air Force, Boise State, San Jose State, UNLV and Wyoming.
NO SPECTATORS
- As a precaution against the coronavirus in northeast Ohio, no spectators will be allowed at this event in Cleveland.
BOISE STATE AT THE CSCAA NATIONAL INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
- This is the third time for Boise State to compete at the NIC in the event's five-year history.
- The Broncos have fared well at the NIC the last two years placing sixth in 2018 and fourth in 2019 out of over 50 teams participating each year.
MEET HISTORY
- The 2020 NIC will be the fifth year the CSCAA has conducted a postseason championship.
- The meet was held at the Rockwall ISD Aquatic Center in 2014 and 2015. After a two-year hiatus, the meet was held at Navy in 2018 before moving to Cleveland last year.
REPRESENTING BOISE STATE
- Seven Broncos will be representing Boise State at the NIC, including three who have competed at this meet previously.
- The returners are junior Molly Hogg who will be competing in her third NIC, as well as, junior Lauren Sale and sophomore Madesyn Ronquillio who both competed last year in Cleveland.
- Joining the trio for their first trip to this event will be: Emma Brady, Carly Palmer, Delaney Phillips and Beatriz Zoppei.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE
- All Division I conference champions (individual and relay) receive an automatic invitation to the NIC.
- In addition, any individual or relay team who equals or surpasses the CSCAA 'A' time standard during the qualifying period shall be eligible to compete.
- Swimmers who qualify for the meet may also enter other individual events if they have achieved the CSCAA 'B' standard during the qualifying period.
- Teams with four individual qualifiers may enter any relay with their best time if it does not meet the qualifying time.
DIVING SCORING AT THE CSCAA NIC
- No diving will take place during the three days in Cleveland.
- Diving scores from the 2020 NCAA Zone meets will be utilized in the team scoring.
- Most of the diving zone meets went Monday through Wednesday, March 9-11.
