Broncos Win Third Straight Over Redhawks

GARDEN CITY, Idaho – Kase Ogata and Christian Padilla each homered to pace a 17-hit effort and Boise State defeated Seattle U 12-8 to take three out of four games in a nonconference weekend baseball series.
Ogata's blast came in the third inning with two men on and the Broncos (7-4) trailing 4-2. It was his second home run in two days. Padilla's hit his first homer as a Bronco when he led off the fourth against Seattle U (6-9) starter and loser Alex McBee (1-1).
After Padilla homered, Chase Adkison singled and scored on a double by Michael Hicks. Two batters later, Cory Meyer doubled home Hicks and finished McBee's day. After a couple of walks, Reagan Doss capped the rally with a sacrifice fly to make the score 9-4.
"As the season goes along, I think hitters are starting to get more comfortable." Boise State head coach Gary Van Tol said. "It's important we're giving everyone an opportunity and guys are taking advantage of it. Everyone is contributing. It's not just one guy."
Each of Boise State's batters recorded at least one hit, and seven notched a multi-hit day. Seven players drove in a run and seven scored a run.
Cameron Sommer (2-0) worked two-shutout innings in relief of starter Dawson Day and earned the win. Jake Nelson and Daniel Ferrario each logged a shutout inning in their first appearance of the season.
The Broncos open a three-game series at home with Niagara, Monday at 6:35 p.m.
