The addition of these two new recruits brings the total of newcomers for 2021 to 10.

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State's head softball coach Maggie Huffaker announced today the addition of two pitchers transferring in for the 2021 campaign in Kiele Miller (Dripping Springs, Texas) and Sara Johnson (Lake Stevens, Wash.). Miller is a right-handed pitcher who is coming from Creighton University, she will have two years of eligibility left to play for the Blue and Orange. Johnson is a left-handed pitcher transferring from Towson University with three years of eligibility remaining. The addition of these two newcomers increases the size of the Broncos recruiting class to 10 for 2021.

"We're excited to add two new Broncos to the family," said Huffaker. "Both Sara and Kiele have really bought into the culture we are creating and want to compete! Both compliment our already exciting pitching staff.

Miller made 46 starts in 62 appearances for the Creighton Bluejays during her three-year career in Omaha, Neb. The right-hander finished as the seventh pitcher in program history to reach 300 career strikeouts and ranks sixth all-time with 334.
She finished with a career record of 26-20 while pitching in 287.2 innings.

Huffaker's thoughts on Miller, "Kiele Miller brings a ton of experience from some very competitive ball games she's played in at the D1 level. She will be a presence in the circle and has the ability to create swings and misses. We look forward to helping her continue to develop and grow."

As a Junior in 2020, Miller owned a 2.73 ERA in 77 innings pitched tallying a team-high 93 strikeouts. Her sophomore campaign finished with three Big East Pitcher of the Week honors, a 4.48 ERA and team-high 94 strikeouts in 75 innings pitched.

As a freshman, Miller was an All-Big East Second Team selection going 14-8 overall. She led the Big East in ERA (1.42), opposing batting average (.172) and strikeouts looking during league action (59.0 innings pitched). The native of Dripping Springs, Texas, ranked third in the Big East with 147 strikeouts and was named to the Big East All-Tournament Team.

Johnson is a native of Lake Stevens, Wash. She played two years of ball for the Towson Tigers (Towson, Md.) where she went a combined 15-12 on the mound while pitching 193.2 innings, including 14 complete games. She finished her two-year stint at Towson with a career ERA of 3.22, 193 strikeouts and an opponent batting average of .250.

Huffaker likes that fact Johnson is a left-handed pitcher, "Sara adds a valuable left handed arm, and we believe she will really develop as a Bronco both in the weight room and on the field. She's someone who rises to the occasion and wants to compete against the best."

As a sophomore in 2020, Johnson had a record of 3-3 with an ERA of 2.79 in 38.2 innings. She struck out 48 while finishing with an opponent batting average of .199.

As a freshman in 2019, Johnson was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie Team after playing in 22 games, starting in 21. She finished at 12-9 overall while recording a 3.48 ERA. The native of Washington was third in the CAA for strikeouts with 145 and fifth for innings pitched at 155.0.
