BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Athletics has hired former football standout Daryn Colledge to serve as the Bronco Athletic Association's Director of Development and Varsity B Coordinator, director of athletics Jeramiah Dickey announced Thursday.
"Serving our current and former student-athletes through the Varsity B program will always be a vital area within our athletics department," Dickey said. "We are thrilled to bring Daryn back into the fold and are excited about the experience, institutional knowledge and relationship-building skills he brings to Boise State Athletics."
In his new role, Colledge will be responsible for managing the Varsity B program, working with current stakeholders and potential donors to support Bronco Athletics. Included responsibilities will be working with BAA staff to develop marketing strategies for the Varsity B membership program and developing networking and engagement opportunities for former Boise State student-athletes.
Colledge, a 2005 Boise State graduate (communication), played nine seasons in the National Football League following a Bronco career that saw him start what was then a school-record 52-consecutive games. A second-round selection by Green Bay in 2006, Colledge helped lead the Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV and was the team's 2009 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee as a result of his volunteer and charity work.
Following a professional career that included 137 starts in 141 games, Colledge enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard, graduating from advanced individual training in 2016 as a Distinguished Graduate. He currently serves as helicopter crew chief, and was deployed to Afghanistan for nine months beginning in April of 2018.
Colledge and his wife, Megan, recently announced their membership to the Lyle Smith Society, and in 2012 donated $150,000 to upgrade and enhance the Broncos' Varsity Center weight room, a gift that is still impacting all Bronco student-athletes.
"The time I spent in Boise, and at Boise State, has helped me become who I am today," Colledge said. "I take great pride in where I came from, and value the experiences I had here as a student-athlete. During my professional career I made it a point to give back to this University so that I could make a positive impact on the student-athlete experience, and in this role, I feel like I will be able to serve the next generation of Broncos more directly. I am thrilled to be able to impact the student-athlete experience for all of the men and women that choose to don the Blue and Orange."
Originally from North Pole, Alaska, Colledge earned first-team All-Western Athletic Conference honors his junior and senior years (2004-05). Colledge helped the Broncos to a four-year record of 45-7, four-consecutive WAC Championships and four bowl appearances. He was named the team's outstanding offensive lineman three times and set several records in the weight room during his Bronco career.
