BOISE, Idaho - Abu Kigab exploded for 32 points and 10 rebounds to lead Boise State to its widest margin of victory this season, beating Prairie View A&M 97-60, Friday at ExtraMile Arena. The trio of Kigab, Marcus Shaver, Jr. and Tyson Degenhart combined for 68 points in the win.
Kigab was 10-for-12 from the floor and 12-for-18 from the free throw line to finish one point shy of his career high. It is the 18th 30-point, 10-rebound performance in Boise State history. Kigab owns the most recent one as well, going for 33 points and 11 rebounds in his home debut for the Broncos, Dec. 28, 2019, against CSUN.
With the game tied at 21, Boise State (6-4) used a 15-2 run to close the first half and take a 36-23 lead into the locker room.
Kigab, who had 10 points at halftime, poured in 14 points in the first eight minutes of the second half and helped the Broncos extend their advantage to 30.
Boise State shot 52 free throws, the most attempts in Leon Rice's 12 seasons as head coach, three shy of the all-time school record, and the most in the nation this year. The Broncos converted 33 of their free throws, including Kigab's 12 makes and Shaver connecting on 11-of-14 attempts.
Shaver finished with 20 points - his first 20-point game of the season - while chipping in eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. His jumper with 2:01 left gave him 20 points on the night and gave the Broncos their largest lead at 94-52.
Degenhart scored 16 points and has reached double figures in each of the last four games since being inserted into the starting lineup. Degenhart hit a career-best four three-pointers on five attempts.
Max Rice and Emmanuel Akot each contributed nine points.
The Broncos return to action Tuesday, hosting Santa Clara at 7 p.m.
