BOISE, Idaho - Boise State Head Women's Tennis Coach Beck Roghaar announced today the addition of the program's first 2022 recruit in Arizona prep standout Ryan Kershner (Phoenix).

"We're looking forward to adding Ryan to our squad in the fall of 2022," said Roghaar. "As a four-star recruit and one of the top players coming out of Arizona and the southwest, she's proven she can compete at a very high level in the juniors. Ryan's a really solid athlete and is going to develop quickly in the environment here in our program. She loves to compete and is hungry for the opportunity to challenge and push herself and that stood out to me right away. The team and staff are looking forward to having her on campus with us soon."

"I chose Boise State because every person is valued and given opportunities to grow not only in tennis but succeed in life," said Kershner. "I believe this opportunity gives me a chance to compete at the highest collegiate level for tennis and grow my game to its highest potential. Coach Roghaar always has so much energy, no matter what time of the day and genuinely cares about each one of the players."

Kershner is currently a senior at Xavier College Prep in Phoenix, Ariz., where she is a four-star recruit who has been ranked as high as No. 87 nationally for her graduating class by TennisRecruiting.com. In addition, she was ranked in the top-50 nationally in the beginning of 2021 by the USTA.

The 5-foot-7 standout is the two-time XCP team most valuable player and a team captain. Some of Kershner's top results include victories over current recruits heading to UC San Diego and Oklahoma State next year.

Kershner has been ranked in Arizona's top-five since she was 12 and was No. 1 in 2020-21. She won the state championship as a freshman. In addition, Kershner has recorded several semifinal and quarterfinal singles appearances at United States Tennis Association (USTA) Level 2 events and was a finalist at two in doubles during her junior tennis career.

She is an academic standout as well, having made the XCP Honor Roll all four years and is a member of the National Honors Society.
