ABOUT PRAIRIE VIEW A&M: The Panthers are 0-8 to start the season, having played the third-hardest schedule in the country according to KenPom. Prairie View A&M is led by three double-figure scorers in Jawaun Daniels (15.6), D'Rell Roberts (12.6) and William Douglas (10.9). Last season, Panthers head coach Byron Smith received the Hugh Durham Award from CollegeInsider.com, awarded annually to the nation's top mid-major coach.

SERIES HISTORY: Friday marks the first all-time meeting between Boise State and Prairie View A&M. Boise State is 4-0 all-time against current members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

SEASON OF GIVING: Boise State is offering ticket discounts at each game of the upcoming home stand in return for charitable contributions to support the Treasure Valley community. Friday, fans who donate a new, unwrapped toy to Toys For Tots upon arriving at ExtraMile Arena will get a game ticket for $5. The same discount applies on Dec. 14, for fans who bring new or gently used coats or shoes for the Avalos Family Christmas Drive. On Dec. 19, fans can get a $5 ticket by donating a food item to benefit the Boise State Campus Food Pantry.

FEARLESS FROSH: Tyson Degenhart led the Broncos with 21 points at CSUN (Dec. 7), becoming the 12th Boise State freshman to record a 20-point game and the first since Justinian Jessup (Nov. 25, 2016). Degenhart is the fourth Bronco freshman under Leon Rice to score 20 points in a game, Anthony Drmic, Derrick Marks and Jessup. Drmic had three 20-point games as a freshman, Marks two and Jessup one. Degenhart has started the last three games for Boise State and has scored in double figures each game. As a starter, he is averaging 14.3 points per game on 68 percent field goal shooting.

WHEN HE'S HOT HE'S HOT: Naje Smith has scored at least nine points three times this season. Each of those three games, Smith has been perfect from the field and the free throw line. Most recently, he netted a career-best 17 points at CSUN (Dec. 7) on 7-for-7 shooting, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.

STILL GOOD FROM DEEP: Emmanuel Akot has made 18 three-pointers through Boise State's first nine games. Akot has made at least one in each of the first nine games, the longest single-season streak of his career. Akot finished last season making at least one triple in the last six games of the year, running his current streak to 15 games. During the 15-game run dating to last season, he is shooting 45.9 percent from beyond the arc.

CALLING CARD: Boise State head coach Leon Rice claimed before the season that the 2021-22 Broncos had a chance to be the best defensive team in his 12 years as head coach. Through nine games, they have made good on that prediction. Boise State is holding opponents to 59 points per game. The Broncos have held eight opponents to fewer than 70 points, six under 60 and two under 50.

ELITE BALL MOVERS: Boise State is 5-1 this season when tallying at least 12 assists. The Broncos dished out a season-high 25 assists in their 82-62 win against Temple. They racked up 20 in a 74-48 win at CSUN. In Leon Rice's 12 seasons as head coach, Boise State has had 20 assists in a game 19 times. The Broncos are 18-1 in such games, winning the last 18. In Rice's tenure, the Broncos have had three 20-assist games in the same season once (2012-13).
