FINAL RESULTS

BOISE, Idaho –
The 18th-ranked Boise State gymnastics team recorded one of the highest floor scores in school history, overcoming a deficit in the final rotation to upset No. 10 Arizona State, 196.750-196.700, Friday at ExtraMile Arena.

The Broncos had trailed by .325 after three events, but recorded a 49.475 on floor, tied for the 10th-highest score in school history. The win gave the Broncos their sixth victory over a top-25 opponent this season.

The No. 10 Sun Devils are the highest-ranked opponent the Broncos have defeated since knocking off eighth-ranked Washington, March 15, 2018 (197.000-196.950). The victory also gives the Broncos a perfect 4-0 record against the Pac-12 this season, the most wins against the league since also winning four meets in 1997.

In addition to tonight's victory over Arizona State, the Broncos defeated then-No. 13 Oregon State in the 2021 season opener, and also won a tri-meet against Washington and Stanford this past week in Seattle.

"I am so happy for our three seniors tonight," head coach Tina Bird said. "They are such great people, in addition to being super student-athletes. They deserve the best!

"There were lots of great individual performances tonight, although we were a bit uncharacteristic on beam as a team. When we put it all together, I believe we are unstoppable!"

Senior Emily Muhlenhaupt earned her 15th-career victory on bars with a 9.950, while fellow senior Tatum Bruden and sophomore Adriana Popp shared in a victory on floor, each recording scores of 9.925, setting and tying their career highs, respectively.

Muhlenhaupt moved into sole possession of second on the Broncos' all-time list for career bars wins, while the victories on floor for Popp and Bruden were the third and second of their careers, respectively.

Freshman Courtney Blackson led the Broncos on vault with a 9.850, and sophomore Erin Elkabchi tied her career high with a 9.850 to lead the Broncos on beam.

Following the conclusion of the meet, Boise State honored its three seniors – Bruden, Muhlenhaupt and Gabriela Cavinta.

Boise State is set to travel to Logan, Utah, next week for the 2021 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championships, and all four schools are currently ranked in the top 20. Boise State had won five-straight championships before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled last year's meet. Boise State, BYU, Southern Utah and Utah State are slated to begin the meet at 6 p.m., March 20 (Saturday).
