BOISE, Idaho - Boise State softball ended a five-game homestand on a sour note Monday dropping a doubleheader to Utah Valley. The Broncos fell victim to a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to lose the first game 4-2, then lost 9-4 in the second contest. The pair of defeats moved Boise State to 16-16 overall with a game at Idaho State on the schedule for Wednesday.

Ashlyn Adams led Boise State on the day with five hits in eight at bats versus the Wolverines. She was followed by Bella Rocco with three, while Abby Bumcrot, Alison Seng and Kelsey Lalor each had two.

The Broncos actually out hit UVU 18 to 17 and hit .321 compared to the visitor's .279, but the Wolverines took advantage of their hits and a few miscues by the Blue and Orange to out score it 13 to six in collecting the victories.

RECAP GAME ONE: Utah Valley 4, Boise State 2

Boise State struck early for a pair of runs to take the lead scoring a run in both the first and second innings. Unfortunately, Utah Valley rallied with a pair of two RBI home runs in the fourth and seventh innings to steal the win.

Boise State opened the scoring in the first when Rocco sent a single up the middle with two on, scoring Lalor from third.

The Broncos stretched their lead in the bottom of the second following an error by the Wolverines shortstop with Adams up to bat. With two on, Isabelle Butler scored from third on the UVU error after reaching base on a walk earlier.

Down two, Utah Valley struck for two runs in the fourth when Rien Milliken sent a two RBI homer over the left center fence to tie the game at 2-2.

The Wolverines won the game in the top of the seven with their second two RBI home run of the contest, this time by Jaeden Barajas who hit the pinch hit homer to right center to secure the win.

RECAP GAME TWO: Utah Valley 9, Boise State 4

Like in the first game, Boise State struck first scoring three in the first inning. Then after Utah Valley rallied with four in the top of the third, the Broncos tied it up in the bottom half of the inning. The Wolverines eventually regained the lead in the fourth and extended it to the final 9-4 margin in the sixth to claim the victory.

Boise State opened the scoring with three in the bottom of the first. After Adams and Rocco had singled and worked their way to third and second, respectively, Jordyn Hutchins sent a double to right center to bring the two home for an early 2-0 lead. Hutchins scored from third when the defense was running Alison Seng down who was caught between first and second on a steal attempt.

Down three, Utah Valley took the lead with a big third inning. The Wolverines scored four in the third powered by a three RBI home run to right field.

The Broncos rallied in the bottom of the third with a run to tie the game up heading into the fourth. Adams scored the run on a fielder's choice by Hutchins when the defense threw to second to get Clarissa Moreno out, allowing Adams to cross the plate from third. That proved to be the last run of the game for the Blue and Orange.

The Wolverines took the lead for good in the top of the fourth with two runs, then extended it with three in the sixth.

Utah Valley had 11 hits to Boise State's 10, but three errors in the game proved critical for the Broncos as UVU took advantage of the mistakes.
