Broncos Slated for 2021 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's basketball will participate in the 2021 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic, ESPN Events announced Thursday. The tournament will take place Nov. 18, 19 and 21, at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C. The Broncos will be joined by Clemson, Elon, Marquette, Ole Miss, St. Bonaventure, Temple and West Virginia.
Six of the eight teams in the field finished the 2020-21 season in the top 100 of the NCAA NET Rankings, including Boise State at 53. The Broncos are 2-1 all-time against the other participating institutions, beating Elon (2004) and St. Bonaventure (2018). The lone loss came at Marquette in the 2004 National Invitation Tournament. Boise State has never faced Clemson, Ole Miss, Temple or West Virginia in men's basketball.
The 2021 Charleston Classic will mark the seventh major early-season tournament in nine years for Boise State (2019 Diamond Head Classic; 2018 Cayman Islands Classic; 2017 Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Myrtle Beach; 2016 Charleston Classic; 2015 Wooden Legacy; 2013 Diamond Head Classic). The Broncos were also slated to participate in the 2020 Orlando Invitational before the event was canceled. This will be a return trip to the Holy City, as Boise State previously participated in the 2016 Charleston Classic.
Tickets will be available for purchase following the announcement of the complete tournament schedule later this summer. In the meantime, fans can secure up to $25 off each all-tournament ticket by signing up for the pre-sale at www.charlestonclassic.com.
