Strong Start for Broncos at Home Pairs Tournament

BOISE, Idaho – All three Boise State pairs competing in the Gold Division came out on top of their pool on the first day of competition at the Boise State Pairs Classic, Friday.
The Broncos finished 5-1 overall in the top division, with Rorianna Chartier and Sierra Land joining Ava Anderson and Kaylee Mejia as undefeated finishers in their respective pools. Madison Nichols and Lily Patock finished 1-1, but a narrow three-set loss ended up being the difference to give them the edge in a three-way tie.
The success started in the Silver Division, with two Bronco pairs also going undefeated on the day. After winning their first match, Joey Benson and Emilia Guerra-Acuña came back from a first set loss to take down Sydney Jacinto and Camille Lee (Oregon) 16-21, 21-14, 15-10. Anika Christensen and Elli Wolthuis also finished the day undefeated, helping the team combine for a 11-5 record on the day.
What's Next
The Boise State Pairs Classic will continue with bracket play Saturday morning at the Boise State Beach Volleyball Complex. The first match will begin at 9 a.m. with play expecting to continue until 4 p.m.
